What a shambles of a season that was!! 17:59 - May 25 with 3162 views | Chrisd | So pleased it’s finally over, but I’ve been embarrassed the way we’ve been since the turn of the year. I hope questions are asked about what’s happened this season? How can a team keep making the same mistakes game after game and never learn from them?! It’s Groundhog Day watching this Town side. No home points in 2025 - woeful! It’s certainly going to be an interesting summer for us, but we need to start well next season otherwise that pressure will start mounting. [Post edited 25 May 18:04]

What a shambles of a season that was!! on 23:14 - May 25 by DavoIPB | At last a sensible post. Some of the players playing in teams in the top half the premier league were brought for 15-20mil and have performed way better than any of our players. West ham were awful today and looked like they didn't care and we still lost 3-1 at home. Some really really poor investment and tactically very naive. |
You don't just wave your wad of cash and the 15-20milo players arrive at the club. They have to want to come and play for you. It's a lot easier to attract a player to a top half club than it is to a newly promoted club. One club has the luxury of being able to almost guarantee top level footbal for multiple seasons. The other is in all likelihood destined for relegation.

These players going to “top half teams”were never going to sign for Ipswich. Yes I think we’ve overspent on some of the players we have brought, however we were never in the market for some of these players. As for losing today, it’s almost as if people don’t expect the teams confidence to be right low atm. We’re on a poor run of form we’re not going to suddenly smash West Ham. Regarding investment, we’ve got to look at the bigger picture which many I feel fail. Yes it’s not worked out this season, however we’ve got the base for a very exciting team next season imo. What is McKenna meant to do? Bring in more “seasoned pros”? I for one have been hugely disappointed in Johnson and Phillips.
What a shambles of a season that was!! on 00:07 - May 26 with 375 views | WicklowBlue | I was embarrassed in the 94-95 season, not this one. Although very disappointed the way the second half of the season went albeit not surprised. I think we all knew at one level or another that for us to survive would mean everything aligning. As is often the case it didn't, whether it be injuries, ref decisions etc I remember being super excited when KP signed....at his peak that might have been an additional few points. Unfortunately KP never worked out..

There's lessons to be learned but it is only two years since people thought we might be stuck in league one forever. We played good football when we could this year and we didn't let our heads drop.
What a shambles of a season that was!! on 01:13 - May 26 with 330 views | sjg | I expected us to go down, and I’m absolutely fine with that - we’re in a much better position than we would have been had we stayed down. I’m gutted with the way we spent the money, the fact we didn’t give the players that got us there a chance, and how gutless and rigid we have been in 2025. If I had to sum it all up, I would say Enciso was in Porto for our last game. He was doing what’s best for him in the long term and I get that - but what good does it do us? It’s been a terrible season and I’m glad it’s over. Hopefully we see lads running through brick walls like we saw for the last 2 years, next season.
What a shambles of a season that was!! on 08:28 - May 26 with 220 views | PioneerBlue | I’m not embarrassed. I’m pleased with all said here that we have gone down as a team, players and coaches and fans. None of this previous club implosion, we will start now stronger than our previous start to life in the champ, albeit we now have to maximise the legacy of the super EPL investment. I’m sure there were a few unhappy players along the way, you’d not expect a relegation to be met with happy players. We all knew the task was going to be very difficult, I certainly didn’t realise it was to be very very difficult and potentially impossible no matter what we did! I’m interested in any one explaining how we could have closed those 18-20 points in one summer without breaking all financial rules to spend another 60-100m to build the fully competitive squad (although quite unlikely those players would have been available to a newly promoted club). I do agree most things have been exposed to varying degrees at different times: The players we kept and the players we did sign, goalkeeper, defenders, midfielder, forwards The game set up and approach to in game changes and subs The game management at various game states We’ve seen it all. I still don’t believe we could have closed the gap.

What a shambles of a season that was!! on 09:24 - May 26 with 179 views | billlm | Our team had spirit that was ripped with the squad changes, Cost us Maybe now it may have been better getting 3-4 40million pound players and kept the original squad, Kept haldky would have solved a few problems, But my real take looking at all the games was the pace and physicality we were woefully short, The physicality cost us a lot of injuries to some very good players, Our right hand side was decimated half the season, Our midfield non existent most matches not enough skill sector, At the end of the day it was the physical side for me premier league players are super athletes, Glad I've seen real time,
