Biggest threats/suprrises next season? 10:14 - May 28 with 1224 views | BlueySwede | What are your feelings towards next season, who do you expect to be "up there"? Obviously Southampton and Sheffield United for me. Questions marks over Leicester and their financial situation. Wrexham and Birmingham seems in a good financial position, would you consider them dark horses? Coventry, West Brom and Boro had disappointing seasons, but could be outsiders for me.
Biggest threats/suprrises next season? on 10:37 - May 28 with 1128 views | dirtyboy | Coventry and Wrexham will undoubtedly have been looking at us and using that (rightly so) as a marker of what can be achieved with a good squad and unity coming up. Birmingham do have a strong squad, probably shouldn't have gone down either, so I wouldn't write them off at all. Wrexham will likely need a little bit of an overhaul, but they have 'momentum' and I'm not discounting them, just think they'll probably find this step quite a jump with the players they currently have. That's not to say the Hollywood influence won't allow them to recruit well. Southampton will be strong, as will Sheffield United. No idea what Leicester will be like, if they escape a deduction, you'd have to expect them to be challenging. Of the others... Coventry with Lampard seems to suit each other, their form over the second half of the season was impressive, can Frank kick that on over the summer? We know they have good players. Millwall were a bit of a surprise too, they'll be confident of punching upwards, but I do think they'll lose Ivanovic (maybe one we'd look at), he looks decent. Brizzle will depend on if Manning stays and whether they give him some pennies to spend. Norwich seems an odd choice for him, but maybe they have the cash now, hard to know. Looks like the league will be tough though. Birmingham, Wrexham and Chalrton are decent sized clubs with a bit of clout coming up and may mix it a little. Us, Leicester, Southampton, SU all have a fair bit of money and you'd think we'd be fighting towards the top, but as we know because we did it...the top 2 can be gatecrashed without the money in this league.
Biggest threats/suprrises next season? on 10:44 - May 28 with 1074 views | DavoIPB | Nobody should be a threat to us. Although results didn't go our way we were much better than Southampton and Leicester over 3 of the 4 matches. Has anyone watched championship football this season. It's so slow and littered with mistakes. If we recruit well we should easily be clear at the top.

We don't need huge recruitment this summer, although injury doubts over Burns, Ogbene & Philogene cloud the issue. We still need a central midfield player to partner Morsy & a striker to share the role with Hirst. The big issue is if McKenna will still be able to motivate the players to play with full intensity against the likes of Oxford & Preston because if we're not full on, we won't win those games.

Biggest threats/suprrises next season? on 11:33 - May 28 with 923 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | There really isn't a team I see as a massive worry aside from the parachute teams, one of them might even have a deduction. Birmingham will be up there I expect, but there are still unanswered questions on their manager (the same way there was on KM when we went up from league one). Done great to do the first bit, but now can you elevate a team to do better than expected. I suspect they will be very competitive. The rest of the pack Boro, Coventry, West Brom. I just don't see a lot of quality there at all. With the squad we have built and the additions we will surely make, we have to be confident of being 15/20 points better than these guys like Sheffield United were (who were worse than we were in the prem)

You’d also think that Boro, Cov, West Brom et al will have their better players taken away too. Similar with Ivanovic at Millwall.

I'm sure Leicester, Southampton and Leeds has similar comments made when we gatecrashed the perceived dominance they thought they'd have. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

There may be a surprise packet, but Leeds, Burnley & Sheffield Utd (all recent PL members with parachute money) were so far ahead of the pack that I'd be very disappointed if we weren't in the top 4.

Yes, I think the crowd are likely to be restive if we struggle to break down the low block teams especially.

Yep. Hackney be off from Boro. Felllows from West Brom. Coventry I sort of see a lot of their players maybe at their level ? Top 6 Champ players. Guys like Rudoni, Wright, Mason Clark, Sheaf. All players I like but if they were to be pinched id expect it to be to the teams that have come down from the prem. Its just if you consider we could have an attacking 3 of Clarke Szmodics and someone on the right. Omari if he is here or Philogene or Ogbene. That would be seriously naughty if we could get them settled playing together.

We should be used to that from the League 1 season.

Mckenna has even alluded to this in a few recent press conferences. Up to everybody at the club to own it and play like it. We will be expected to win every week and rightly so we will have the quality to do it. That being said we will lose games, so we also need a fanbase who aren't going to lose their minds at any minor setback.

I can see it now, there will be a spreadsheet produced where it compares our results vs teams last time we were in the championship, team X replaces team X etc. Constantly looking at the PPG average, comparing the two. Playing Stoke at home with hardly any atmosphere because ‘it’s only Stoke we should beat them’

We need to recruit very well this summer as we need better players all over the pitch. As things stand we are one of a dozen teams who could finish in the top 6.

I’m not sure we need better players “all over the pitch” we already have a very strong squad. Certain areas need focus and I’m sure we will look to replace if/when players leave. But we aren’t going to be looking to upgrade every position. That was the point of last summers window.

Biggest threats/suprrises next season? on 13:29 - May 28 with 480 views | Churchman | None of them. All aboard HMS P*ss The League. Actually on planet reality I actually do think the biggest threat is ourselves. Sort ourselves out quickly and we will be fine. Throwing players together and panic buying at the end of the transfer window will leave us with a patched team scrambling for cohesion - a bit like this season. We need a solid start.
