Playford, what to do and see 20:12 - Jun 2 with 1145 viewsBlueandTruesince82

We are spending a couple of nights near Playford, any suggestions of what to do.

Pubs?
Best beaches nearby?
Anywhere good for antiques etc?

Anything else anyone cares to suggest (I doubt I'll be able to swing doing the stadium tour)

I live in playford and it’s generally a through road with two mini villages either side. The side I live has awesome walks through the fynn valley and can be as short or as long as you like. My favourite hack is via Rushmere St Andrew, linking up to the back of Tuddenham for breakfast or a beer at Tje Fountain there, then closing the loop back to playford.

It’s a slightly longer walk but you can also drive if you like to the Grudisburgh Dog which has recently changed hands and is on the up.

Beaches is easy - you can get to Felixstowe or Aldeburgh in similar time, but if you go Aldeburgh way you can visit Marlsefofd Mill for antiques and stop at Friday Street too en route. If you want to go a bit further up Yoxford has a decent antiques place too.

Theres plenty to do in Woodbridge too which is cycle or walkable but easier to drive. It’s a great base for accessing everything east coast as well as central Ipswich.

Enjoy!

Ty, I dont know quite where we are (i dont know Suffolk at all well Ironically) but we're in an airbnb certainly close by, tucked away on someone's woodland. Only there for 2 nights and thought Aldeburgh looked a good shout beach wise so thats very helpful!

I lived in playford from 15-18 years old.

You can walk across a couple of fields to the pub in little bealings where you can earn $3.75 an hour as a kitchen hand and earn a bit more by babysitting the owner's kid, who is (was) a 4yo with a thing for knives.

If you need a smoke (tobacco or other) without your dad noticing, there's a little stream near my old house that's not overlooked. Just watch out for the horses in the next field. One of them gets a boner when watching you.

If you fancy some exercise, there's a hole in the fence of the grundisburgh tennis courts and if you point your car headlights at the court, you can play after dark for ages for free.

Happy to be of assistance.

There’s an antiques place opposite the martlesham red lion (I’m sure it’s still open) been in there a few times.

Woodbridge on your doorstep

Walderfield - nice pub

Food wise, kesgrave kitchen a 5 min drive away.

Pubs - tuddenham fountain, grundisburgh dog, Turks head (hasketon)

Close to the training ground, not much to see tho, especially this time of year.

Aldeburgh

I've loved the suggestions for all the walking routes followed by the Kesgrave kitchen is only 5mins drive away...doh

Bet no wonder we need a bypass if people drive from Playford to Kesgrave ffs.

You can of course walk there if you want to.
I’d struggle to fit in a dog walk from Kesgrave to Playford, round Playford, and back again, in the 1hr lunch break I get.
