Waterbutt Watch. 04:19 - Jun 6 with 477 views | Benters | Well people how are your waterbutts coping? Have they ran dry yet of ‘Adams Ale’ as my dear old Grandmother would call it ? I am managing only just mind,we had a little rain yesterday that helped, and I’m down to my last butt on my garage. I read somewhere the other day people should wash their birdbaths out more if they are dirty,as they can carry diseases and refill the said birdbaths with fresh water from the mains tap.

It is still as good as full, about 8 foot deep and would make the perfect plunge pool after a sweat lodge if we put a ladder in. There's a pump still in one of the outbuildings for getting it out which needs some work so until then it's a bucket and rope. I bet there must be all sorts of treasure at the bottom should it ever dry out or I suppose we could use a very strong magnet.

Don't know how the one 3/4 full actually managed to get that full as it wasn't connected to a downpipe. I was down to about a 1/4 full in one and empty the other one. We had a fair bit of rain yesterday which to be honest I didn't realise it had rained so much because last night I checked and the butt was full. The ones I have hold over 200 litres each . My Grandfather who I grew up with (and Nanna) used to have a galvanised tank with downpipe off the roof of a shed. On the end of the downpipe he had one of my Grandmothers stockings to stop rubbish from entering the tank.
