On the 12th July I will cycling 400k in a day to raise money for angels and rainbows, a pregnancy and baby loss charity. Nobody who works for the charity takes a wage so all money raised goes towards the cost of counselling. Many of the volunteers have themselves suffered a loss!
I only started cycling during Covid at the age of 58 now 4 years on I am taking on my biggest ride, I should point out this is a manual 11 gear bike, no power assistance.
The ride starts in Diss around 9am I will cycle to London some parts with others and some parts alone. From London I will cycle to Dunwich on the Suffolk coast through the night and hopefully catch the sun rise. From here I cycle home to Diss and hope to be there before breakfast.
Here is the link if you would like more info on Angels and Rainbows and how to donate should you wish to.
Funnily enough I did my longest ride with DD included, but only got up to 335km; had to abandon a 400km Audax the next year after a crash about 275km in snapped one of my shifters, and at 2am there was little I could do to fix it.
I forget how much I used to enjoy audax riding, need to get back into it but post a bad case of COVID and a couple of nasty crashes I kind of lost my love of cycling.
