I suspect Colchester might have got a minor windfall too. The thinking when he was sold to Peterborough was pretty much that they were selling him quite cheap (250,000), the idea being that Peterborough would 'fatten him up for market' for them. Because of injuries to Poku, especially this season) this has taken a bit longer than anticipated. Colchester sold Frankie Kent to Peterborough a few years ago, - and then he went to Hearts. So Colchester are consistently brave enough to play very young players in the first team, Posh are then brave enough to pay some decent (by L1 standards) money for them to work on them ... and then get nothing for them. Last summer Colchester lost Noah Chilvers to Ross County for nothing. (He certainly wasn't worth Poku-style money, and he probably needed a change of scenery for his career development, ...but no doubt some L1 club will sign him sooner or later.) | | | |
