11 have resulted in top-six finishes.

I think that's extremely impressive.

Ten of those came in our first 17 seasons in the First Division.

All about framing and context innit. It’s equally true we’ve had only one top division, top 6 finish in the last 43 years. Which doesn’t sound particularly impressive.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Yep, considering our status in 1981 in English & European football the fact we have only spent 12 seasons since in the top flight in 44 years is a sobering statistic.

That’s is quite disappointing what might have been on the post Bobby legacy but frankly it would have been a different football club and life with history being rewritten post 1982-4. I don’t know if all clubs feel they can define things in this way due to owners, managers, and players having ups and downs but we really feel like we’ve had our eras!

Pre Scott Duncan and Alf and back to birthing club era
Scott Duncan’s Ipswich make into the league pyrimid era
The Alf
Early Bobby
The Bobby
Post Bobby
The PL V in the 1990s
Capped by The Burley’s European Tour
The Big Fat Joe and Jim years
The Darkest gone and forgotten years
The GC20 Morsy and McKenna’s Men empire

What comes next? You decide.

I only hope it’s less The 2025 PL aftermath and more The New Golden era

I reckon what follows is "the yo yo years" followed by "Lee Grant's FA Cup winners"

In your eras id also make it "the Joe and Jim years", plus split "the dark" into 'Championship "stability" (Keane through to 14/15 and the playoff) and "s***"

Before my time, but many older than me used to pay tributr to Scott Duncan as the man who started it all. I give you TWTD'S own verdict on him:

Scott Duncan - Football's Forgotten Man 13th Oct 2023 14:39
Scott Duncan, the manager who masterminded Town’s entry into the Football League in 1938 and remained in charge until 1955, is a surprisingly little known figure despite a life in football which took him to Rangers, Celtic, Newcastle United and Manchester United as well as Portman Road - but veteran Scottish journalist Alex Mooney is seeking to address that. 16

Good ratio but a bit light on the quantity dare I say it! Fewer top flight seasons than Blackpool, let's put that right over these next 10 years.
