O'Shea captain? 20:13 - Jun 24 with 989 viewsDaninthecampo

O'Shea extending his contract is great news, he wouldnt have signed if he has any plans to leave, a new contract to renegotiate relegation clauses makes sense for him but do we think there are other factors in play?
Sam has been a great captain for us but realistically only 1 more year playing for us,will we see a change of captaincy for this season to keep O'Shea happy?

I would be amazed if Morsy is not captain and O'Shea vice captain. When Morsy plays, he is keeping the armband. No chance we change unless Morsy leaves.

Truly impaired.

That was seen last season. If O’Shea started as captain and Morsy was brought on as a sub, the armband went to Morsy.

Me too in a short term view but hopefully if we go straight back up,isn't it better to have a captain already in place Instead of a new one for the prem season?

I would imagine to keep him we have are paying him near prem wages and a promise that if we fail to go up he would be allowed to go back to the prem.

The only Muff in Town.

Can't see it being an issue. He will probably get plenty of time with the armband and even without it, he can still be a second captain.

Truly impaired.

I’d be amazed if this signing isn’t with a view to building a team around him once Morsy steps down. So, yeah captain in the fairly near future.

I'm not sure he'll definitely be here...

Not sure any club would promise a player they will be captain as part of a new deal.

We would have been paying him Prem wages to sign him in the first place and there is no way he has taken a pay cut to sign a new deal. He'll be on better terms today than he was 12 months ago.

probably lessened any relegation clause in his original contract.
