The 1975 on 10:20 - Jun 28 with 689 views | DecageBruce | Have to agree with most posts here. The most positive Incan be was that his voice didn’t irritate me and he appeared in tune most of the time. There is always music on in my house and I cannot say I had ever heard ever of their songs and they’ve been around for 20 years? The lead singer was trying to act like a sanitised punk rocker with his beer and cigs. Didn’t find it offensive to my ears and was a nice change from Coldplay (same Mundane dross) but didn’t stop me flicking through the live feeds to watch a bit of LC and other bits on the other stages. Not sure I know any of the other ‘headliners’ either (other than Rod obvs) so think I’ll keep flicking on my non standard tv channels and seeing what is on the other stages

Neil Young tonight, I’m amazed he’s still going. I’ll give that a look but he’s more of a Sunday act than Saturday for me. Saw him once at a festival many moons ago, he opened with Heart of Gold and rocking in a free world and loads of the crowd left which was a shame. He looked a bit p1ssed off and cut his set short. Probably should’ve closed with them.
The 1975 on 10:48 - Jun 28 with 626 views | Herbivore | If we're honest, Glasto as a whole has been a tepid, sanitised festival for trust fund kids for quite a while now. That Lewis Capaldi is treated like a legend there kind of says it all really. Still some nuggets of gold to be found in the steaming mound of dung, but as a festival it's pretty turgid.

The 1975 on 11:07 - Jun 28 with 600 views | J2BLUE | I was immediately turned off by their lead singer holding up his pint of Guinness like a 14 year old who really wanted everyone to know how cool he is. I turned over shortly afterwards. There's something about Glastonbury which just makes me think 'w@nkers'.

Does anyone ever give a well known band or musician a bad review these days? Oh for the days when "name" bands like Pink Floyd could be given negative reviews.

It and other festivals or concerts with vast numbers of people have never appealed to me. I grew up in the era of punk when stadium rock and the like were derided and relatively small venues were the thing. I'd also rather go and see a particular group, rather than vast numbers of artists I don't really care about, and might have only one or two songs I like, if even that. [Post edited 28 Jun 11:55]

Big venues are the thing these days, because tours are how artists make a living. But most big venues are fairly soulless, even though technology has made the sound way better than it was. If you're watching a huge video screen, you might as well be at home, especially at well over £100 a ticket, plus extortionate food & drink prices. Yes, I am a grumpy old man.

I think they resolved that and the Beeb will show his set EDIT: No I am wrong. I think they're showing CharlieXCX on the other stage instead. [Post edited 28 Jun 12:01]

agree, I would loathe it to be fair. Smaller venues are more intimate, much better atmosphere whether it is 50 or 500. Beside my attention span for music is 2-3 hours tops. I even used to begrudge having to listen to the warm-up act (had to, to get stage front). No wonder I got tinnitus as a teenager.

Tbf, smaller venues are still very much there, with loads of gigs at 100 to 500 capacity venues every week across the country. Personally I far prefer those sort of gigs to big arenas and stadiums, i want to see the band and feel like im part of the event, but sometimes needs must.

The 1975 on 09:54 - Jun 28 by _clive_baker_ | Caught some of their set and thought it was absolute sh1te tbh. Felt so contrived, front man looked like an actor playing a front man rather than being one. Right out of a play book, staggering about pretending to be drunk, smoking his fags. Only thing I did wonder is whether it was designed to be ironic, maybe it was some sort of trolling that went over my head. |
Yep. Better than I could have worded it.

It's almost as if the singer has modelled himself on a younger Pete Doherty or something, trying so hard to be/look cool and comes across as contrived and fake.
The 1975 on 13:22 - Jun 28 with 352 views | LankHenners | I'm not bothered about The 1975 really and Matty Healy is a bit of a prat but in his stage persona he is very much doing a bit.

Neil Young and the BBC have patched up there differences and will now be shown. However, I'm not sure if it's live or highlights. [Post edited 28 Jun 14:25]

It really is a shadow of its former self, you look through historic line ups and they are epic top to bottom pretty much, I’m not sure what they are trying to achieve now - I’m mean Olivia Rodrigo for goodness sake.

The 1975 on 09:38 - Jun 28 by DJR | I suppose the funny thing these days is that every review I see for every artist is a four or five star review (out of five). Maybe they are no longer critics but instead fans. |
Reminds me of the singles reviews, probably in the NME late 80’s early 90’s, which were comically harsh at times and borderline offensive on occasions. I recall the review for one of Madonna’s singles was brutal, something along the lines of ‘Just shut up and put your t*ts away, you silly little girl’ and the review for Freddie Mercury’s ‘Too much love will kill you’ overstepped the mark completely. It went downhill once Emily Eavis starting picking the acts
