Lots of funding going on for the ladies team 08:23 - Jul 27 with 1192 views | FrimleyBlue | Which is good to see We know we've paid Colchester for their new pitch and thr ladies new home But we've also had planning permission granted for a required temporary building at the training ground for them that's a requirement for their level of football.

Not sure the locals would be happy about that. 3k capacity means a lot of vehicular traffic.

They will hate it, I have a house in the village and just had three goes to get planning permission. Lots of complaints from the parish council and the neighbours. However the Town had no problem with all of their expedited works at the training ground and all of the applications went through quickly. Everything was framed as required for Cat one status or improving what is there. I expect we will also move the community operations up there, so the council will be forced to accept it. That is interesting. I wonder how many people would go to women's matches at Humber Doucy Lane compared with Felixstowe or Colchester. I am not sure there is much else around there to do, like pubs and cafes in Felixstowe/Ipswich Town centre. I would prefer we play in Ipswich, ideally at Portman Road. I wonder how many tickets would need to be sold at £10 say to make that financially viable. It must cost a fair bit to rent Colchester's stadium.

Is this all confirmed? Excellent news if true! Would assume access will be via the current training ground as the sites are connected aren’t they? Hopefully this would make the locals a bit less resistant? Would be great for them to have a permanent home in Ipswich

Wonder if they’d build a new road down to it from the existing training ground or something as there’s a empty field beside it which could be a car park. Would have to do something surely.

On the end of the cheap bus route, only 15 minutes out of the town centre. There is a big bar there now, but they would build new facilities as part of the stand. The ladies were getting 3k at Felixstowe. The facilities could make money every day of the year, Wanderers have the bar open most days. [Post edited 27 Jul 10:54]

Nothing official, yet. ITFC have done the deal with the landowner. The site has its own access road from Humber Doucy lane. There is a foot path between the two sites and there are gates that can opened across it. There is already a water feed to the site, ITFC used wanderers for academy games for many years and looked after the pitch.

Good news. It’ll be interesting to see the plans with regards to parking and access etc. as would imagine that’ll be the locals biggest gripe. I suppose there would be the potential to shift the pitch to the end closest to the training ground and then form a car park where the existing pitch is but this would obviously add significant costs. Very positive for the women’s team to be playing in Ipswich in the not too distant future.

I hope it works out, with facilities in place to make it an enjoyable visit for fans. Attendances at Felixstowe rose to around 800 a match, with over 2,000 there for the final game of the season. Our season average was bumped up by that 10,500-odd attendance at Portman Road.

There is 2 pitches there now and quite a bit of parking. Also a big new carpark on the land at bent lane they bought back from Evans. Wanderers already has a certificate for 1500. There is also quite a bit of land empty un-farmed land around wanderers site. I guess the 2 year deal at colchester for the ladies is the timetable. I don't know but I expect they will create community pitches as well as further facilities on the public side ultimately it will allow the club to clear the practice pitch at Portman road and do something substantial with it.
