I know someone who works in the pitch industry who reckons we'd really have wanted another 2 weeks after the Ed concerts to let it bed it. While it might look good by the first home game there's a good chance that even with the hybrid stitched surface the natural grass won't have rooted very well and it could cut up quite badly.

I know it's been tight. It's been the company that installed it in the first place that's done the work rather than club staff to get things moving more quickly. Weather has been ideal over the last two or three weeks, which has probably helped.

First home game being 9 days after the season starts must be a bit of a blessing, could’ve been worse if we were home on the opening day.

Yeah, but it means we can play football games as an ancillary use for our concert venue! How many other concert venues in East Anglia can say that?!
