Talking of cycling/Sepsis. 04:30 - Aug 7 with 956 views | Benters | I had to stop in May as I was diagnosed with Sepsis,so my recovery has been walking and gardening.Which I have throughly enjoyed. But seeing my bike sitting there the tyres going down just that little bit every day was a bit sad,so yesterday I decided to pump the tyres up and give it a go.. I went up the road wobbling about, but once I got into the swing of it it was ok.I thought I’d just take it easy but once you have your speed it’s hard to slow down! It was lovely getting out on the saddle again. Peace and Love.

Hell, the cycling and gardening probably helped you survive the sepsis. Well done, stay well and know your signs people. https://sepsistrust.org/about-sepsis/

I got really ill and was heading for organ failure apparently until blood test in hospital picked it up. But now my nerves are shattered and its along road back. Similar story but my bike is hooked upto Zwift. Will i make the Southampton game.... Good luck in your recovery. [Post edited 7 Aug 7:37]

Twenty years or so ago, I had a spider bite (non-venomous) to the back of the knee which I ignored for a bit until my knee swelled up and I ended up admitted on an antibiotic drip for a couple of days. I'm thought they called it septicaemia at the time, which I believe is called sepsis these days, but I've never been quite sure if I remembered it correctly. Had a similar thing a few years later, but caught it earlier so just had oral! Does that make sense, doc?

Sounds about right. Could have easily cost you your leg. Or worse.

Talking of cycling/Sepsis. on 09:16 - Aug 8 with 169 views | Churchman | Well done you! I was chatting to somebody the other day who’d had it a few months back and had a bad time in hospital with it (intensive care for a couple of days at one point). He’s fully recovered now and is a very fit 40+ year old (estimate). It’s really not a good thing to get and can leave you on a tin tray if you’re not careful regardless of age. As others have said, don’t ignore the signs.

Having oral helped fix the problem? Were you giving or receiving?

Thanks ba. I had a town fan friend die from it a couple of years ago. He’d cut himself on a piece of metal in a skip. I was in Hospital for 4 days on Antibiotics, then they let me go home on yet more Antibiotics. I was walking the 10’000 steps a day but that was starting to do my nut in just mooching round the green. So last week I went on the same distance but rather than mooch about the green and village I went out to Thorrington Church across the fields and woods that was nice. I just needed to get back out on my bike,it always makes me feel better exercising.Plus the gardening and looking after the birds etc. I just bumbled along on my bike did around 20 miles both Wednesday and Thursday,I hadn’t been on it since April so jeez my arse hurt a bit😑😆.
