We need to lose Muric and one of Palmer or Walton to get in a keeper that fits our style, doubt it will happen.
I think we can struggle through with Young and Johnson on the right, but a left back is a must.
A CM, preferably a "number 8" that can carry the ball, and let Humphreys go. But if we don't get a LB I can see him staying as cover (which is weird).
Obviously a CF to challenge (ideally be better than) Hirst.
Plus replace anyone else that leaves with like for like.

Keeper needs to change however I think it’s a difficult one to do right now given the fact we need a keeper who is going to be £20m plus should we go up again.
I think it becomes number 1 priority when we go up, I just can’t see us splashing £20m on a keeper right now. [Post edited 11 Aug 13:18]

....but I'm surprised that a new keeper isn't at towards the top of most people's list.
Palmer really isn't right for us, and if the fans hadn't been so desperate to blame Muric for our woes last season then we really wouldn't have been in this position.

- Bring in Yalcouye as cover for Matusiwa
- Doak as Hutchinson replacement on loan
- Osula as Al-Hamadi upgrade

i assume you're getting rid of muric and baggott too? i know it's only blue-sky thinking, but what do we do when burns (and potentially the other 2 derigestered players) is fit in january?

I'd like to think we have enough cover for Omari. I'd play Clark on the right, Philogene left. But Jaden looks fragile so we will need cover especially if Broadhead goes. Right back, surely Young will cement his place there, it's why he was bought in. Need another midfielder, if Humphries is not seen as up to it (I think he is). Taylor is better further up field, maybe a backup no. 10. So still plenty of work to be done methinks. |
McKenna will want to have 4 impactful signings on the bench. We will replace OH if he leaves and we will also replace Broadhead too. Our strength previously in this division as our bench. |  |

We need a bit more depth than a single midfielder. The most important gap is someone who can act as the attacking link from midfield - attacking midfielder would be the old description. Cajuste can break forward effectively but we also need someone further forward. This was a huge gap at Birmingham and throughout last season. We will need one more experienced midfielder who can play the pivot role backed up by a younger player who may not start that many games but make a regular contribution as a sub, cup games etc i.e. young Prem loanee.
We lack leaders on the pitch so irrespective of position players who can add that are really valuable.
LB cover is essential and another attacker will come in if Omari and Broadhead both move on. | | | |

How?! If Broadhead and Omari leave then we have:
Philogene and J.Clarke for the left
Chaplin and Szmodics for the middle
Ogbene and Burns for the right... and Burns isn't available for god knows how long.
Considering KMc would probably like to freshen up all 3 positions on 60 or so minutes most games, it really isn't a lot of depth and 1 or 2 injuries leaves us short of some quality and star power in my opinion. | | | |

Depending on thebwes comeback and ogbene proving some sort of ability to come back and prove he has the quality and fitness previously shown inwouldnt bet against both of those loaned out in jan. I've seen nothing from ogbene yet. | | | |
