Jack Clarke 08:12 - Aug 13 with 776 views | Wickets | I don't want to have a go at any player after another terrible cup night so this is meant as an observation more than a criticism Jack seems to me to just not have the ability to play with his back to goal . In the more midfield position we ask him to play he needs that , out wide maybe not so much. Perhaps the coaches know that and are trying to improve this if not then they should be .
Jack Clarke on 08:18 - Aug 13 with 714 views | badadski | He is trying to hard if you ask me, he’s trying to take on too many players rather then giving and going - it’s just the pressure of trying too much too soon and buckling under expectation. I like Him as a player and think he will come good. It will take us time to get the team to gel and for McKenna to have his starting 11 - we are basically at an impasse and McKennas at a similar position to when he first started and it took him 10-15 games to find his feet and starting team to build from. As long as we see progress I’m happy and for the time Being am not expecting much with all of the new players getting up to fitness and transfer window to sort it self out first. Once that’s done I’m sure we will be good.
I thought Chaplin was as bad if not worse than Clarke last night on 08:19 - Aug 13 with 698 views | unstableblue | And has had a far worse pre-season than Jack Clarke. Chaplin made so many errors in that first half, everything he did was error strewn. Yet he’s not being called out in the same way. I get this is because Clarke has never delivered bar a few moments. His confidence is shot - he needs backing. I fear the reception he’ll get on Sunday.

Jack Clarke on 08:20 - Aug 13 with 682 views | FrimleyBlue | Frustration for me is that he was probably the most improved player as last season progressed. He looked like he was finally understanding his new role, was getting stuck in, etc etc too So im hoping he's just gonna take a little while to get going.

Chaplin had a torrid time, however he still put hamadi in on about 4 occasions, he also got ogbene going down the right so he still did alot of good

Jack Clarke on 08:25 - Aug 13 with 628 views | Metal_Hacker | I don't think it's solely a lack of confidence personally , I truly think it's a case of trying too hard and totally making the wrong decisions . The amount of times he ran face first into a defender , lost the ball and to his credit tried to win it back but then fouled the player . OK some would say a great tactical move , if you lose it break play up ....but Jeeeez it was so frustrating. Lift your head up a little more , or perhaps he didn't have the runners backing him up other than Lief in the first half . I dunno , I'm lost with him and whys etc This is where IMHO KMcK really earns his money and shows his man management skills . The start of this season is vital and if we can't get him going in the next few weeks I dread to think of how it will pan out for the rest of the season for him If anyone can sot this it's KMcK and his team ....hopefully [Post edited 13 Aug 8:28]

Chaplin was careless in possession, you're correct to call him out in that respect last night. Yet he assisted Johnson's goal and but for a fingertip onto the bar, it would have been his goal. On a number of occasions he put decent through balls in behind too. He has delivered for ITFC across several seasons. Yes, last season he struggled but everyone did and injury certainly stalled his season somewhat. Let's not forget too, he cost a fraction of the fee we payed for Clarke who, unfortunately, has no history of delivering in a blue shirt. I really hope he does. He has done it at Championship level and can do so again.

Jack Clarke on 08:43 - Aug 13 with 419 views | ITFCBlues | What probably doesnt help is that hes done majority of pre season wide right, he now finds himself on the left again. He had looked fairly decent in pre season. We just need to get through this next 2 or 3 weeks and get this transfer window closed and get a settled side sorted.

Lets not forget, most of the assists or goal contributions chaplin has had in a town shirt is because he tries quick passes beyound the defenders, some come off, alot don't. but when they do they hurt sides. The alternative to that has been Sammy S, so we either want to see the ball going in behind the defenders or we stick with sammy s as the 10 who's more of a supporting striker rather than a creator of goals

Jack Clarke on 08:49 - Aug 13 with 362 views | Wright1 | I know i'll get pelters for being "reactionary" etc etc... but i'll be shocked if he works out here. Sometimes a player just doesn't fit or work at certain clubs or at certain points in time. I hope the Town fans back him to the end and something clicks though because another Muric situation would be embarrassing. I can absolutely see why he was brought here and I was excited by the signing... but I think he's way more limited than we realised. Nathan Broadhead is flat out a more appropriate player for our team and i'd love a cadid chat with McKenna about why he doesn't fancy him. It doesn't seem to be just the fee paid for Clarke because we've played Jaden and Szmodics ahead of Broadhead too so we've desperately tried to replace him. It's not because we are looking for that PL physicality because Clarke and Jaden aren't exactly huge upgrades in that department.
