It feels like the team picks itself, with Young playing 90 yesterday and Ogbene still recovering from injury. The key thing is the fitness of Cajuste and Akpom, and whether they will be able to offer anything from the bench. A defensive right of Johnson and Clarke scares me, quite frankly, though might be good going forward.
I know I keep banging the drum but, whilst our wing options are either struggling with fitness, form, or throwing their toys out of the pram, I would like to see a back three.

Even if Hutchinson suddenly makes himself available, he'd probably start as a sub. I feel it'd make us more solid with our best form players playing (Johnson ahead of Young aside, but the die is cast there). |  |

I don't think Philogene is going to be straight into the starting XI after not making the squad at all. And Young played 90 yesterday, so don't think he'll start Sunday. That's one decision of McKenna's I'm really against. After his performance against Birmingham, Young should be in the league XI. | |

Frankly Young has to play. He's looked one of our better players.
I initially had Clarke on the right but honestly I think that's disrespectful to Southampton. We'd be a bit light weight and potentially exposed down the flanks with him protecting the right and Szmodics drifting inside. I've at least seen Philogene put in that shift against Bayern to suggest he can do a job. | | | |

I think playing someone like Southampton at home is the perfect game for Jack Clarke to excel. It will be a different affair to the way we set up away from home. We set up so tight in away matches it makes it a really turgid affair, where fine margins are the difference.
