Clarke - Need to get the ball to him earlier! 14:35 - Aug 17 with 356 viewsBellevue_Blue

As per usual nonsense over reaction on Clarke in particular from a small minority.

He didn't set the world alight but I do think we have to get the ball to him earlier. His strength is with the ball at feet and there were too many times we just didn't play it early out and in front.

Johnson guilty of just holding the ball a fraction long and delaying the pass.

No doubt that will be ironed out and chemistry will build.

Jack needs to get physically bigger and stronger. He's too easily nudged off the ball. He should also forge forward more often and especially into the box because he'll dance around, bag a few or get some penalties.

I think its unfair to call people daring to question him nonsense really. He hasn't ever taken a real chance of the multiple opportunities he's had. There was a few times the ball was played into feet down the line and he was just nudged off again. He will be fine against lower opposition at this level of course.

....the speed of our build up play.

I'm boring myself saying it, but we are so slow moving the ball from the keeper that by the time it gets to Clarke (and often Philogene) he is faced with 2 banks of players and usually with his back to goal. It's not his game and definitely not his strength.

He needs to be receiving the ball earlier with space in front of him to run into.

We'll see the best of him in that scenario.

It's obvious, even to a div like me.

Sometimes you try and invite the press to beat it as well.

He's also a left winger. Play him there with Leif. He's not being deployed properly.

....when we had players with the speed of thought, and feet, to do that.

But we don't currently and it's plainly limiting our attacking intent.

Our goalkeeper is a major issue in that respect.

^^^^This. Give it him earlier with some space infront of him before the opposition is set. He'll be much more effective.
