Watching the game live from Portugal 15:35 - Aug 22 with 838 viewsAlyson

Not sure if this will help anyone else ... I've been going round in ever-decreasing circles trying to get this sorted out ... finally (!) I think I've cracked it!
Town TV are now offering a TownTV+ subscription for international subscribers - it costs £20 a month or £170 for the year ... and will guarantee you can watch the EFL games live EXCEPT for those games that have been selected for international streaming. (Previously this subscription - same price - last time in the Championship - gave us access to ALL live games.
So ... then you need to find out if your country of residence has purchased the rights to stream live games from the EFL this season.
Here's the list of countries that are classed as an 'unsold territory' Which should mean you can watch ALL the games live:
American Samoa, Belarus, Belgium, Brunei, Cambodia, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Cook Islands, East Timor, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Gibraltar, Guam, Italy, Kiribati, Laos, Macau, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Niue, Norfolk Island, North Korea, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Pitcairn Islands, Poland, Samoa, Solomon Islands, South Tyrol (Italy), Spain, Tahiti (French Polynesia), Taiwan, Tokelau, Tonga, Turkey, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Wallis & Futuna, Western Samoa (Samoa).
...
Well, Portugal isn't listed there so a quick search confirmed that the Portuguese SPortTV channel has bought the rights to the EFL for this season. They seem to have a random selection of games they are showing each week.
Here's a link that shows which games will be live on SportTV:
https://www.efl.com/how-to-watch/upcoming-tv-games
...
So in order to watch all the games this season we've had to take out the £170 TownTV+ subscription AND a monthly SPortTV subscription costing 32:99€ a month
(Beware if you are in Portugal and you try to buy your subscription through your Vodafone TV package as an add-on - DON'T buy the cheapest option as that DOESN'T include the SportTV6 channel which is where a lot of the EFL games are shown live!!! Make sure your package includes the SportTV6 channel!)
...
And there you have it! How to watch the games live if you live in Portugal! (I think - I hope!!!!) Time will tell - so far we've watched the first 2 games live that were on SkySports as they were live on SportTV too... and this weekend we've got the 'Video Purchased Available Soon' message on Town TV so our £170 membership is working!
...
I need a lie down in a darkened room now...

Can you not purchase your subscription in Portugal, then "travel" to another country during those weeks? That's what I was thinking of doing

Happy to do things 'legally' - it's just been so frustrating trying to get my head round it all! Not helped by the guys on the Town TV website initially telling me we had to buy an International Members Subscription which cost £45 - that would allow us to buy a Match Pass for every game at a cost of £10 a game ... so at least the TownTV+ option is a bit more bearable!

I just paid my tenner ($13) for tomorrow without having to shell out an addental GBP45 (I think). Unless there is some auto renew thing I don't know about.

I think Ipswich will be 75% of the Paramount+ games schedules for US fans, just not sure if the EU champ coverage is as extensive for live games.

I cancelled my town tv subscription after the 1st game & finding Portugal as “ blacked out” despite it not being listed on the official EFL website, contacted town tv had an apologetic email from the town tv guys.
So back to my iptv box & Championship games are on there, also available via the US CBS service so no need to over pay for it.
I could have watched via town tv subscription using a vpn & visiting Espana for the afternoon but what’s the point if I’m already not in the UK……….

It’s exactly the same as before we got promoted - games that were broadcast in your country were never available on TownTV. Maybe previously Portugal didn’t have any broadcaster showing EFL games, but for most international subscribers it’s exactly the same now as it was the last time we were in the championship.

Here in Chile ESPN show all EFL games that are picked for broadcast on Sky in the UK, and the rest of our games are available to stream on TownTV.

Thanks! Yes last time Portugal didn't broadcast anything so it was a bit more confusing this time round!

It's not obvious to everyone how and where you do that.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
