No chance in a million years are we are getting him but I don’t agree with your last two paragraphs. He’s a proper 9, with an amazing goal scoring record at this level when fit, so would be perfect for us and an upgrade on Hirst, with potential to play at the PL level.

One of the best strikers in the league would cost £20m is always injured and wouldn’t come to sit on our bench , we’ve just given Hirst a new contract and building things around him so it’s clear he is first choice this season so any other striker coming in will be an able deputy type for when his unavailable and not a prolific striker

His injury record is the major issue, but when fit he is better than all of the players you have listed. I hate Norwich as much as the next Man, but if we take our blue tinted specs off, Sargent is a very good forward at this level and I struggle to think of a better one. |  | | |

It just wouldn’t work. Even if we had a bid accepted and he decided to join, if he got off to a poor start or when his form dipped, we’d get all the “scum” comments etc. Andy Marshall was poor for us but it was amplified because every time he made a mistake, whether it cost us or not and some fans were on to him. He never stood a chance here. It would be the same with Sargent or any other Norwich player who joined us. | |
