A slightly different twist to Waller's question 11:57 - Aug 30 with 361 viewsVic

Would you take promo via the playoffs if offered now?

Yes I would. promotion is the goal. Auto's would be great, but if necessary I'd take it via the P/O's

“Would you take promotion”?

Yes. Yes I would.

You could argue promotion via play offs is better that automatic promotion with the adventure of Wembley and big day out.
I certainly would take a guaranteed promotion via play offs over top two but, unfortunately, it can't be guaranteed.
So I'll just have to hope for top 2.

Promotion via playoff, if promoted, is hands down superior to clinching top spots.

Emotion:
Playoff euphoria is the feeling of a cup win and relief, however it does mean we don't get the last home game party atmosphere.

Money:
IIRC - the playoff winners tend to net a bit more than the top two for Wembley receipts and merchandise.

I think I'd take the play off final alone, this league is bloody tough as it is and then you need luck and decisions and big moments to go your way...

It's that argument of achievement. With the amount invested in this squad, anything but top two, even if we go up via the play offs, will feel like we've under-achieved this season. I understand why some will see that as harsh, and it probably is, but such a thing was made of our financial disadvantage last season. This season it's very much the other way round - even on the likes of Birmingham and Wrexham.

I hear what you're saying, and yes, of course we should be aiming at top two. But for me if we can't do that but go up via P/O's then I'd be perfectly fine with that. Once the prem season starts no one remembers how the promo teams got up teams go up - it's the fact that they are there that counts. So for me, all that matters this season is promotion, regardless of how we get there.

Yes, definitely, promotion is a must - however we get there.

Personally, yes, I'd bite your hand off right now for any form of promotion.

But.......It would be great for the many younger fans that have been drawn into the club, to see us win something, though.
Whether that's the Championship title, or lifting the PO trophy at Wembley.

2000 v Barnsley was unforgettable. And gave us a lot of momentum to do well the following season in The Prem'
