The pettiness of rivalry... 19:31 - Sep 7 with 2227 viewsZx1988

I did the Dortmund stadium tour today, which came with two take-homes:

1) Does rivalry get any more petty than this?

2) We have a changing room many orders of magnitude better than that of a Champions League mainstay:

Are you saying our Changing rooms at PR are better than Dortmunds?

Having gone to Dortmund with mates in the summer 2 years ago, I’m confident in saying that the stadium tour is the only thing worth doing there…

Given that I'm staying in Gelsenkirchen (the German version if Rotherham), I'll take Dortmund any day of the week!

Must be bad…

Me and my mates did reckon that those weren’t the actual changing rooms, or at best case the away changing room.

Weirdly, I did the Portman road stadium tour today and I agree our home changing room is very tidy

Perhaps the comparison is: our home changing-room is "better" than Dormund's away changing-room.

Is that a Leverkusen reference?

Everything pointed towards it being the home dressing room, and even the signs over the two routes off the mixed zone showed that it was the home dressing room. I can't imagine that they'd go to such lengths to 're-badge' the away dressing room, especially with the number of Dortmund die-hards on the tour.

Ties in with this (admittedly dated) Twitter post as well:

Close, but no cigar - it's Schalke 04.

Just having done some Googling, I've seen two reasons for it:

1) DFB rules state that away dressing rooms must have the same facilities/amenities as home dressing rooms.

2) It's by design, in order to keep the players grounded in the working class roots of the club.

Show me your "eveything pointed to" and "signs over the two routes" in the OP.

I stayed in a guest house just outside the ground once on a work trip. I was gutted to find they weren’t offering tours at the time. It looks like an awesome ground from the outside. Some quite nice walks around the area too if I remember rightly.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

You missed the German National Football Museum, near the station, which is magnificent.

Agree - it really is a bleak city. Chat football to the locals and they're only interested in telling you about how fantastic BVB are as well.
