Dad took me to Portman Road in the 60's
In the 70's I went there with my mates.
For the 80's I took Dad.
The 90's was when I started taking my daughter as well.
I continued to take her in the 0's and 10's
Now she takes me and grandaughter.
I'm not looking forward to the next stage.

Can identify very well with this. Very similar family history of supporting the Towen. Since 1968.

Yes, exactly my experience except mine started very early 50’s.

Now the grandchildren also follow the tractor girls.

After my Aunts house on Chantry, where she’s lived since 1956, Since 1972, PR is the longest ā€˜anchor point’ in my life. School last only so long, I’ve moved house several times, friends, acquaintances, wives come and go, but PR is always there, even in the bad times it’s rooting. I hope we never have a new stadium!

One decade behind you, so no grandkids yet. Flies by doesn’t it?

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I only said to No1 daughter a little while ago that going to PR is like going to see an old friend.

Why are you not looking forward to going with your great-grandson too?

68 for me too. My grandad went in the early, amateur days (don’t know when), took my dad for his first game in 1938 and they both took me for my first game in 1968.

My old man always went with his mate, stood in the North Stand. His mate smoked a pipe, the people behind him must have hated it.
I inhabited the North Stand, not with my father!
I always refused to move out of the North Stand, remember the segregation, mentioned in another post.
I have to confess I was a naughty boy but that’s what we did in the early 70’s.
What a time to be part of the North Stand.
Please don’t lecture, we had a hell of a time.

Granddaughter is only 10. By the time the next generation is old enough to go to a match I will be pushing up daisys.
It is a sobering thought that I am well past the halfway mark of all my trips to PR.

You may get a healthy slice of added on time. We got an extra 34% more last time round at PR.
