Morsy vs. Matuswia 13:07 - Sep 13 with 1092 views | nrb1985 | Great game last night, managed to get there in person and really enjoyed it. Matusiwa was exceptional, really growing into the player we all hoped. The interception for Jack Clarke's goal high up the pitch was almost vintage Kante! What I would say is, I think comparisons between him and Morsy (as I saw on here last night) are folly in my view. It is clear he has an entirely different role in the team to Sam. And it's noticeable that it's generally Cajuste who now has the role of showing for the GK between the split centre backs. And in the first half particularly though I did think we missed Morsy Getting that first pass from the Keeper and driving us up the pitch a bit. Both are exceptional players at this level but not sure other than playing in CM for ITFC I see much else in terms of similarity of the role they perform for the team (so far). Just my opinion though! [Post edited 13 Sep 17:12]

Morsy vs. Matuswia on 13:56 - Sep 13 with 868 views | DavoIPB | They play exactly the same role, break up play and then get okay going. Morsy got forward more though but Matusiwa is getting there. Think he is a big upgrade on Morsy
Morsy vs. Matuswia on 14:39 - Sep 13 with 672 views | NthQldITFC | Matusiwa is a phenomenal tackler for me, in that he seems to be very quick in, and then be able to get a legal and effective tackle in from almost any angle. His tackle timing is world class, I would say, from what I've seen of hm so far.

I, too, am a big admirer of Matusiwa's tackle.

Indeed. But a different player to morsy, not so adept at shielding the ball and making a bit of time and space to move it on. Not so inclined to collect it and drive, or hold on until a good pass is on. Different attributes.
Morsy vs. Matuswia on 14:57 - Sep 13 with 527 views | Battersea_Blue | For me, after only 5 league games, Matusiwa is more than on a par with Sam, who was brilliant for us. Different styles, so from a playing point of view, unfair to compare. I think after a few more games Matusiwa will have really settled in and with Cajuste, who I think is exceptional and way above Championship standard, will be the best pairing in the Championship. What may be worth comparing is the yellow card count at the end of the season, as Sam was caught out quite often and had to resort to fouling. I don’t think Matiusiwa will get anywhere near as many. That would tell a story. Brilliant win last night. That should set us up to now go on an unbeaten run.

Pretty much agree with all that. I just think, like you, like for like comparisons are very valid as on the evidence so far he’s not playing the Morsy role and the team also appears to have set up a bit differently this year too to play more counter attack. As I said though, thought it was very obvious in first half yday we missed Sam’s ability to take the ball off the GK and turn. Can’t think of too many times in 23/24 when we so clearly struggled to beat a press like that. [Post edited 13 Sep 17:16]

Matuswia is an excellent player. Not as influential as Morsy yet, but Ithink he might turn out to be a better player from what I’ve seen of him. Great attitude. As for partnerships, I’m wondering if Nunez might form a better partnership with Matuswia than Cajuste. I do like the way Nunez goes at teams, wants the ball. Feisty. Either way, heck of an option to have and it hacks off Norwich supporters, so all we need is a couple of goals from him in the upcoming game and the Oinkun might just explode. What’s not to like?
