Cats Eyes. 08:21 - Sep 19 with 1202 views | StochesStotasBlewe | Recently, the A140 had some resurfacing work done between Yaxley and Brockford. New road markings were painted during a couple of nights last week on two sections and to my surprise, cats eyes have been been put in as well. Great to see as I had read that these were being phased out.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Cats Eyes. on 09:00 - Sep 19 with 1002 views | BloomBlue | They are removing the cats eyes from roads. Apparently its because the new matrix LED headlights on modern cars are so powerful, even dipped, they blind the oncoming driver. Which means the driver won't even see the cats eyes. Conversely if a driver/car is the only one on a road the lights are so powerful, its like a WWII spot light picking out a German bomber in the sky. Hence no need for cats eyes now.

And yet, for all the over the top luminosity of these latest car headlights they don't rake the road ahead on full beam, or as far ahead, as the old school ones. And yes, I do think we should go back to riding chariots with a blazing torch either side of the charioteer.

I run on country lanes at its actually safer to run on the left now more than the right. [Post edited 19 Sep 11:22]

My theory on these big posh motors is..... Almost all of the monster trucks/SUV wetw@nk mobiles are on a rolling contract plan The drivers occupy the middle of the road and refuse to shift to the left because they risk scratching the paintwork on foliage.....every blemish on the paintwork means they have a huge payment to make if they wish to roll over the agreement and obtain the very latest wagon at the end of the contract So they would much rather force us ordinary mortals into the hedgrow rather than jeopardise their next fantasy motor And if they kill us, well.... we are just collateral damage and the insurance will sort them out a new motor
