Anyone giving serious critical analysis to that should give their head a wobble 17:58 - Sep 20 with 3955 viewsDubtractor

First half was typical championship fayre, with us creating the better openings.

Second half was an absolute farce, and the game should have been stopped much earlier than it was. You really shouldn't be trying to analyse too much about how we played in that Second half, albeit the sending off was poor from Greaves regardless of conditions.

Think it's something we need to work on, and quite surprising if we havent really, KM has said many times in recent interviews, pitches will change, the weather etc... it's an obvious thing of course, but because is that obvious, surely we need to be able to adjust accordingly.

We'll face conditions like yesterday maybe once or twice all season. There is no style of play that's effective in those conditions either, going long becomes a lottery as you don't know if the ball will just stop or skid on, the game becomes even more chaotic. Keeping possession in those conditions is hard but gives you at least some measure of control.

Yeah I get that, it wasnt really about going long i guess, more none of our short passes out from the back, that is a lottery on a dry day and can go wrong, let alone in those conditions. Just kinda felt like we needed to forget the ball from the back build up, and just get it up the pitch quicker and less chance of the ball getting stuck around our box

This post is very confusing. It's not about going long but it's about getting forward quickly from the back seems a bit contradictory, mate. Are we teleporting the ball forward?

Haha good point harbz.

Just meant rather than trying to pass the ball around the. Backline. Having the ball played forward alot more into midfield or out wide rather than our slow build up play.
So not quite long. Just not so short. If that actually makes sense.

Your original post on this had no mention of passing around the backline. You said, "we need to go direct".

Don't revert back to 6 months ago flash and picking out my words and being provocative for the sake of it, i felt it was obvious what i was saying, it clearly wasn't, i've explained what i meant, that's it tbh. no needs for your attempts at scoring twtd points again, im passed all that. have a good day.

Yeah, i got what you were saying Frimmers, and fwiw agree that we could benefit from being more direct (not long ball!) at times away from home.

Direct in the way that teams like Palace, Brentford and Forest (under) Nuno were. Offer more of a counter attacking threat and not allowing teams to get their defensive shape set.

Yesterday really was a farce though, so I'm not sure how much it helps in those conditions.

What are you talking about 6 months ago? I've never been provocative for the sake of it. I suspect you've changed what you meant, if I'm wrong, fair enough. No attempt to score points here.

What about the previous 43 games?

Anyone NOT giving serious critical analysis to that should wobble their harder!!

Pathetic apologist crap at this point - wrong type of rain.., only we played in it too which is harsh.

Maybe your fantasy emotional investment in one man, you’ve never actually seen work, is wrong…, just an idea based on 14 months not one game.

Your ego can’t process it can it…, wrong type of grass, ball too round? .., nasty referee whistle too loud?

It’s pathetic at this point.., agree for one game…, 44 nah .., at this point the problem is in the mirror pal…, emotionally investing your self esteem in the McKenna and Ashton cluster f@fk!

£200 million to be worse than Micks teams - he spent £2.75 and you gave him hell!!!

He’d be pumping Real Madrid 12-0 with £200 million burning a hole.., Mckenana is a busted flush, wasn’t ever what you said he was!!! At any point too.

Dined out on the leadership group already here - Sam, Chaplin, Burgess and Massimo never got the credit they deserved…, Ashton and McKenna .., more than they deserved, and not to say they didn’t contribute.

He tides gone out now pal.., he’s naked and it’s not pretty,

To apologise for the last 14 months, worst in our clubs history…, you might as well go watch curling…, your no use here, we (had) standards once upon a time!!

John Duncan was better than this.., nobody has done worse with so much resource.

The worst managers in our history at least didn’t blow £200 million doing it!!

We could pay a price for your apathy and pathetic drooling over McKenna like a love sick puppy for decades, many of them.

Recovered from your hangover yet?

Brilliant stuff!

That direct counter attacking style can work well for us and some of our best performances last season (first half v Liverpool, Chelsea games, Fulham away, Spurs and Brentford away) came from playing a bit more on the break. But it's hard to do that this season when sides aren't really willing to come and attack us, you can't really counter against a team playing a mid or low block that's hoping to nick a goal from a set piece and then defend their way to a result.
