Blackburn should be punished for not having a ground fit for purpose 22:01 - Sep 23 with 4495 views | MaySixth | From my Blackburn ST holder colleague of many years "You might have heard but the reason we get a lot of waterlogging is because the pitch drains into the river behind the aptly named Riverside Stand. but once the river reaches its peak level there's nowhere for the water to drain. been an issue for years that doesn't reflect very well on our ownership/management (quelle surprise) but not sure it's entirely the club's issue to solve "I think that's the really frustrating thing seeing the games at Burnley and United play to a finish when the weather was just as bad there. I also think that's why the league won't take any pity on us here because they'll assume if other local teams - including those lower down the pyramid - could finish their games we should have been able to. I mean, even allowing for Blackburn being probably statistically one of the wettest places in the country and in a valley there's no excuse for the drainage when some non-league teams even managed to play to a finish"

Blackburn should be punished for not having a ground fit for purpose on 18:02 - Sep 24 with 476 views | itfc_bucks | Their fans bleating about how it's not their fault the pitch is next to a river. Well it's hardly our fault, is it?! Yes, we were down to ten men, but we were well in the game and, given the faffing with the refs Comms unit, there would have been at least 15-20 minutes left to play. There simply cannot be any other outcome beyond playing the match in full. The rules are quite specific and clear. Surely a rapid CAS appeal would see sense, if the EFL pull some kind of madcap alternative solution.

10 points deduction and a three year transfer embargo for having the cheek to not turn up with wellies and umbrellas, that’ll learn us. Part of me wouldn’t be surprised if we do end up with that sort of batsh*t outcome. Maybe not that batsh*t, but the delay is a warning sign and I don’t have much faith in the EFL despite the answer being clear and obvious in their own rules. I don’t see why they need a board meeting. They have the rules, just apply them.

I don't think the delay is abnormal - I think someone else posted a previous decision took over a week Given that the FA rules and all such precedent suggests a full replay, any other decision would open up all sorts of legal issues i'd imagine. I think we are just worrying because it would be typical Ipswich! In reality, the abandonment was nothing to do with us. In no situation should we willingly accept we get to play 11 less minutes football in the season than other competing teams. Now if it was down to fans/players causing the abandonment that is a different matter entirely.

Blackburn should be punished for not having a ground fit for purpose on 23:40 - Sep 23 by MVBlue | Blackburn seem to be having a Marcus Evans or worse era. Badly run club, diverting fans attention away from the fact they can't setup proper drainage and used to be a Premiership club but now struggle with this. Plus the various transfer sagas such as Sammy Smodich dragged out for 8 weeks, they are quite an odd club. Theres the haves and have nots in modern football, those with mega bucks in the Prem and those bumbling along like Blackburn. |
It’s very similar, Venkys are worth £2bn pretty sure they can afford to fix the drainage. No sympathies if it’s a replay
