I think the chaos was entirely due to Thomas' reaction to the flag going up. The referee didn't blow up until the goal. Whether he clearly signalled advantage when the linesman flagged, I am not so sure.
Next week's game against the Blades is a real six pointer. They finished with just 7 points last year and only avoided relegation because Blackburn were kicked out of the league. Win that and we have a really good chance of staying up,

Very odd. Ref blew for the foul just as Thomas headed it in. But immediately changed his mind & gave the goal. Entirely wrong of him, but natural justice was served. I have never seen that in nearly 50 years of watching live football.
