Think I've just noticed who he reminds me of thanks to the below video.
On his day. A solid dependable defender. Is able to get the ball up the pitch at times. Useful with his head but in amongst it are those moments where you question his position.
Now this isn't a direct comparison player on player btw.. but if there was a visual to how I'd describe him this pretty much sums it up I think. The foul on 34 seconds just made me think of preston straight away.
Not really a major insight this. But after watching the video I felt like you could put greaves in a utd shirt and it would look similar.

So, so easy for people to put a real of mistakes together and make a player look rubbish. Maguire has a mistake in him, but there's a reason he played for England so many times - he's a good player.
Yes Grieves makes a mistake or two, but what player doesn't? Overall his plus point vastly outweigh his negatives - which I'm sure is why KM has stuck with him over players he judged didn't share those qualities..
One day we'll be able to sign a better player, but until then i still reckon he adds a huge amount to the team - and more importantly, so does KM! |  |

Feels like its become very trendy to hate on Maguire, probably because of who he plays for as much as anything else. As you say he's not been free from mistakes but who is? He's been a very good premier league player, will probably finish his career on 400 odd appearances at that level and 60+ England caps, including some massive games on a world stage. A career most professionals can only dream of. If he wasn't English he wouldn't get anywhere near the hate, its so disproportionate to the criticism he actually warrants. |  | | |

Tbh that's more of the point I was trying to make it. It wasn't a boo hiss greaves or maguire thing. It was more that its been part of maguires game but look at how successful he's still been. | |

Has the stand out CB in this division, last time around.
Getting beat every week in the Prem', and our slow start to this season, would have one or two doubting themselves, I would think..

Agreed. We are already seeing it with Clarke & Philogene - getting their confidence back after a few good performances and wins. Greaves will need a solid 10/10 game, or a run of wins, and he will come alive. |  | | |
