WSL2 looks a tough watch 15:56 - Oct 12 with 1524 viewsbournemouthblue

fair play to the crowd that turns up each week, it's going to be a long season

I assume plan is simply to survive this year

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

4:0 - down to 10 at the end due to running out of subs!

We looked lost today - like in the first game against Southampton. Some good play, but too passive and loose for much of the game. Not helped that Sophie Peskett was lost overnight.

We showed a bit of pep after the subs but couldn't lay a glove on Brum who barely got out of second gear

It's clearly a massive step up in athleticism

It looks like a mixed division, Brum & Southampton we have looked like a lower division side playing against better players.

But have competed decently against Pompey & Sheffield United. The outlier is Charlton in that they are one of the better sides and we also competed well there.

It's unfortunate that we are being hampered by injuries and suspensions, but it does look like a straight shoot out between us, Pompey & Sheff United for the relegation place.

Add Newcastle to that - we have them at home soon. 3rd from bottom would be enough for this season, but I think we'll end up lower-mid table.

I mean, anything other than the bottom spot is a victory. The only goal is not to get relegated, and then hopefully spend and build from there. Last year 8 points would've been enough! I think we can do it, but losing to Sheffield United was a blow.

I know it was a lower class of football we played against last season but I think we were a far better team in the way we played. Not much to get excited about with this team.

Dismantling a settled side is always a gamble I guess, was the emphasis on grester athleticism?

The subs seemed to make a difference to the energy and pressing but we still couldn't lay a glove on them

Yeah. As everyone is noticing, the step up is just massive. It's hard for our players like Natasha Thomas who have been a regular through the years, but it's just such a huge jump. That said, we've recruited a fairly experienced group in this league, it's just knitting it all together.

Even the pitches - you've gone from pitches like Hashtag's, where you're lucky if you get away without breaking your leg, to playing at St Mary's for example. Even Felixstowe to Colchester is a huge jump.

It's a massive step up in class. Last season the toughest matches were Watford and Lewes (away) this season it's way harder.
We have to stick with Joe Sheehan and keep the team spirit if we are going to stay up. 2nd from bottom will be a big achievement in this league this season.
