Tuesday and assessment point for many supporters 09:13 - Oct 19 with 1011 viewsmuccletonjoe

Ten games in and the season should now be taking some kind of shape. A comfortable win is essential on Tuesday. We know there are no easy games in the championship but I doubt if points dropped at home to Charlton will be seen in the same light as those dropped last week at the riverside.
Failure to get a lead away from home has cost us dearly and has dictated our play to a large extent. We have been able to play a much more comfortable style at home, for the most part taking early leads and using the counter attack tactics to great effect.
I don't think individual players are having a great bearing on our away form, but one or two adjustments need to be made this week. Hirst, for one definitely needs a rest. Azon needs a start for sure, maybe with Akpom in the 10 role. Hopefully this won't result in a reluctance to cross the ball as seen in the closing minutes on friday night. Even if we don't win the header, there is the second phase knock down to go for lads !

I dont want to be that guy, but, if we cannot beat Charlton at home then that is not a positive outcome. We need to be giving teams like this a good hiding at home like we did Sheffield United.

Looking at the 'level's if we cannot beat them how are we gong to be give Arsenal, Liverpool etc a game. It's just too much a gap to get there.

(Nothing against Charlton or fans of).

“A comfortable win is essential”

Or what?!

You’ll again threaten not to go to games anymore?!

Bit of a daft comment . It is essential if the team are going to achieve anything this season, which is surely the only reason any of us go to games; to see the team achieve success?? Or do you go to see them fail?

It wont be an easy game, but as long as we go into the game with fully fit players, we should win.

Im still sure we went into friday night with a half fit side.

a niche perspective

Why is a "comfortable" win essential?

If we win 2-1 and make the playoffs or top two at the end of the season - how is winning 2-1 any better or worse than winning 5-0?

Your OP sounds extremely entitled. As you have done in the past when you so graciously let us all know you were "prepared to give KM/MA the benefit of the doubt" Which we all had a good chuckle at and though how rather good of you.

Turn up, support your team come rain or shine.

If we win 2 - 1 and get into the play offs then it is essential. Perhaps I should have said , it will be preferable to beat Charlton on Tuesday because at the end of the season we might be 3 points short of promotion. FFS ! Some of you people are out with the fairies.

I get your point but I really think we need to stop even thinking about this team as to what it might do against Liverpool or Arsenal next season. Can it simply get us promoted this season?
Thoughts beyond this seem disrespectful to the league we are in.

I would think if this team do not get promoted this season then there will be serious questions asked from the higher ups.

We should be good for the play offs minimum, Coventry and Boro will hit a sticky point as well, bear in mind there are 36/37 games to play, we are in no panic, but, we have to beat Charlton, Oxford etc etc at home

If we do go up then that is a whole new conversation of how to go about that after last season!

The East Anglian derby win has helped to turn a disappointing start to the season into one which is probably viewed by most fans as mediocre.

We take delight in Nodge’s troubles but let’s remember we are only 5 points better off than them (albeit having played one less game) so we don’t have much to crow about in that regard.

Keep picking up home wins and the away points will surely follow so let’s just get 3 points on Tuesday. Any type of win (comfortable or not) gets the same points.
