Kasey McAteer 13:07 - Oct 20 with 5239 viewsGlasgowBlue

We paid £7.5 million for him when we had Chiedozie Ogbene in the building. Not an inconsiderable fee.

In the last two games McKenna has put Jaden on the right when bringing on Jack Clarke and left McAteer on the bench.

McKenna has always preferred to freshen up his front four in the final 20-25 minutes so it seems quite odd that he is preferring to play Jaden out of position when his race has been run in preference to bringing in a frsh McAteer.

Has KM lost faith in McAteer already? I hope to be proved wrong tomorrow night.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Less effective than Ogbene?

He's literally done nothing. Not all his fault I know but he did very little before his injury last season.

Don't think we'll see him in a Town shirt again and Wes's time may soon be up as well. I think that's why Mcateer was signed

That's a somewhat unfair assessment of Ogbene last season - he played a little over 200 minutes in the PL before being injured, and was showing some real promise especially in the brief appearance in the game he was injured.

He wanted Clarke on the left and also wanted to leave Philogene on, who can produce something out of nothing. It also meant 1 change rather than 2.

I think McAteer will start tomorrow.

Hutchinson was playing for us on the right- yet was playing for England on the left!

All about opinions I know but I thought he offered nothing going forwards. It's fair to say that he didn't play much but nor has Mcateer and that hasn't stopped plenty on here writing him off !

That's a fair comment, but I would (and also do) argue that we haven't given McAteer enough time under KmK. Both Omari and Jaden took time to come good in our system, and I think the chances are that by the end of the season many will be surprised by McAteer,

I tell you what, it's frustrating watching him repeatedly try and ping that ball across the box directly through the defender that's in front of him, but when he gets the hang of it and it hits the shins of the second man instead, oh boy it'll be worth the wait.

He's a downgrade on Kayden Jackson, which I think sums it up.

He actually had his best game for us tonight, so hopefully a step in the right direction for him.

Mcateer and Ogbenne £20 million plus combined.., let that sink in.

I wouldn’t let McAteer not being value inflate your opinion of Ogbenne though.., both equally poor value.

Our talent ID relative to where we all want to be as a club, has been pitiful.

Hard to say it’s the players fault.., they don’t talent id themselves and pay the fees and wages.., we watched Greaves, Ogbenne, McAteer, Johnson (huge wages and signing on), Phillips, Sammie, Akpom, etc etc and said .., please .., take our £70 million .., like Jack Clarke a lot but we over paid for him too. And so many others.

Even Delap was WAY down our list.., we spent that summer chasing the Greek chap.., says exactly where we are, off the field we are poor, have been for a long while.

Mass, Sam, Chappers - we swam the channel when talented coach but poor manager inherited winners, like Burgess too.

It was a low bar.

I'm pretty sure he ended up on the ground 90% of the time he took possession of the ball.
