| Boxing questions 13:12 - Oct 26 with 1098 views | Zx1988 | Three questions on Wardley, having done some reading after last night: 1) Wikipedia states that he 'vacated' his British title after having been named as the mandatory challenger for Kubrat Pulev's WBA title. How does the designation of a mandatory challenger work, and was FW handing back his belt simply an acknowledgement that he didn't feel ready for a title fight at that time? 2) How does the above situation interplay with the 'interim' WBA title that Wardley won against Huni earlier this year? I see that the WBA now list three heavyweight champions: Usyk (Super Champion), Kulev, and Wardley (Interim). It feels a little odd that FW manages to get onto the champions list, having passed on the opportunity to fight Kulev. 3) What happens with respect to the gobsh*te that Wardley ws originally scheduled to fight at PR? Does this get rescheduled? Or is it just the case that the shoulder injury means that the opponent lost his chance? [Post edited 26 Oct 2025 13:19]

He was ordered to fight Moses Itauma and one day later announced a different opponent. Looks like he ducked Wardley rather than the other way around. [Post edited 26 Oct 2025 16:59]

| Boxing questions on 16:50 - Oct 26 with 874 views | Mullet | 1) it means the board decides that you are the man the champ has to fight next. The British title isn’t a worldwide belt it as domestic one. He would have given it up to give someone else a chance and a signal he was ready for the world stage. 2) interim usually means the proper champ can’t fight for a reason eg medical suspension. They’re not great but a part of most combat sports now (ufc was riddled with them whilst most mma organisations weren’t) 3) Miller won’t fight him now, Fabio is in a whole other level. Think I’ve understood and answered all 3 correctly. | |

Tbf, if you can't answer them correctly, nobody on here will be able to! But what you have said is my understanding of the "Interim Champion" thing, to. My worry with Wardley is that every fight he takes is a war, and I hope that he gets out before it is too late. He's a warrior, no mistake. Did you see the photo of Mark Ashton posing with Wardley and holding the belt? Wardley's stock is now higher than ITFC's, which is quite a turnaround over 18 months. | | | |
