They might want a longer term legacy appointment, that would be the only thing in his favour, he could potentially do the role beyond Desmond’s time at the club…, owners and egos .., his legacy.
He’s paid a reported £5 million, which I don’t think is quite true, but he is paid an OBSCENE amount based on results.
Slot is paid £6 million. Very few managers in the world paid more than McKenna.
In the context of that.., considering the last 18 have contained wins you can count on one hand, hundreds of millions spent, mid table in the championship…., we should bite their hands off.., and likely would.
Sadly though. That leaves us with the real problem.., Mark Ashton and no ownership oversight at all.
We can progress without McKenna .., easily.., there are way better managers in the here in now. Costing far far less.
BUT we likely won’t do that with Ashton ., he’s 35 years what he is, a decent EFL operator and that’s it.
With owners that don’t provide the structure around that, who is or isn’t manager doesn’t really matter.
If we are to be a success, it will have to be an individual that does it all.., and Ashton won’t allow that.
His EGO needs the control.., and when you aren’t good enough .., that’s a problem.
ASHTON HAS TO GO.
We can’t move forward until he does.., and we need ownership oversight, checks and agency too.
