Thought he looked a real handful last night and used his physical presence well. I felt quite bad for him in the second half as three or four times he found space out on the left but we didnt have the quality to send him through. That is where we still lack options in the 10 although I felt that improved when Nunez came on and was switching the play well and actually started to get Egeli in the game more.

If I'm being slightly harsh I think Hirst should do better with the header in the first half (Looped cross from Furlong) although that falls behind the ones that Azon, Taylor and Nunez missed. In some ways, it is a shame that he wasn't on the pitch when Nunez started to get the ball wider for us as he would have been perfect for those crosses coming in.

Strange how we all see it differently but I thought he was largely anonymous again last night.

My biggest frustration with Hirst currently is the way he is often looking to challenge the defender first rather than going for the ball when it is going forward in the air.

What service did he get though? Very litte really in terms of quality into the box and that didn't happen until Egeli started plowing crosses in once Nunez came on. Hopefully we see more of that.

Also, there was a least two occasions in the second half where he had found space on the left hand side and Akpom (and Cajuste I think it was) didn't pick him out. For me, that is where we miss Chaplin's quality in the 10.

Dont get me wrong, I thought Akpom had a decent game last night but he just doesn't fit our system as a 10.

Small point of order, Egeli delivered a number of quality crosses well before Nunez came on.

At the start of the first half he did but then we seemed reluctant to play down the right for quite a large period of the game (Perhaps intentionally as Philogene scored from the left) I felt that Nunez was helping with overloading the right and finding Egeli in space more so than before he came on.

Thought average at best last night only thought 3 or 4 decent performances. Keeper did nothing wrong, kipre after first 15 ,Azor and Egle rest were poor.

He did well considering he once again was playing deeper into midfiled searching for the ball. We have McKenna's " rotations" and dropping the two most effective players in our midfield for that.

I'd agree with this. Barely remembering him being on the ball at all in the first half

Co-comm made the point about him and Akpom regularly making the same runs and it did feel a bit like they occupied similar spaces a lot of the time

I guess if you train with Delap for a year, you will pick some things up.

Re your second point, I did think there is an element of that but then I don't think Akpom suits us as a 10 anyway. I thought Hirst did a good job of trying to wind their back line up and generally worked hard considering the lack of service.

Bumping the defender first is pretty common practice surely
