| The emerging McKenna ver2.0 squad has a good age profile? 16:51 - Nov 12 with 1205 views | unstableblue | If you think about our matchday squad this season (who fans are slowly beginning to embrace), apart from players who are intended to be transient (Akpom, Furlong, Young), and the usually higher aged Goalkeepers... it is a relatively young group which can grow further. Below is the main starter pool with age: Palmer 29, Walton 30 Furlong 30, O' Shea 26, Greaves 25, Kipre 28 (loan) Davis 25, Matusiwa 27, Taylor 27, Cajuste 26 (loan) Egeli 19, McAteer 23 Nunez 25, Akpom 30 Philogene 23, Clarke 24 Hirst 26, Azon 22 (loan) 8 players 25 or younger. Plus Clarke 24, Johnson 25, Humphreys 22, Baggot 23. Great age profiles for Jaden, Clarke, Egeli, Nunez, McAteer, Greaves. Shame Azon and Cajuste are not on promotion buy options - as good age profiles. Here are the age profiles of some of the promotion team: Chaplin 28, Burns 30, Broadhead 27, Morsy 34, Burgess 30, Tuanzebe 27, Luongo 33. [Post edited 12 Nov 16:55]

I think that was the plan, but neither did have them in the end. But highly likely I am wrong!

Cajuste yes, I think some of the delay in Azon's deal was whether it was an option or an obligation after his failed medical.

Jens is an obligation on promotion, Azon has no clause at all in the end, due to the medical concerns

Probably a bit premature to be talking about how much they can grow together, particularly as another overhaul is likely if we do manage to get where we want to this year

Well Mr Potato Head.. lets turn the all seeing eye from age to effectiveness of the new batch: Successful addition, delivering effective performances: Walton, Furlong, OShea, Davis, Taylor, Matusiwa, Clarke, Jaden, Nunez, Egeli Delivering mixed performances Greaves, Hirst, Azon Something to be worried about Akpom, McAteer

Think both of your 'to worried abouts' will click soon personally. MacAteer put some decent balls in to the box the other day that didn't lead to anything - you could either put that on him not finding someone or on the attackers for not making the right runs. He's also come close a few times with some of his shots. Think goal contributions are a matter of time and his out of possession work is good. Just needs something to happen. Akpom - doesn't naturally fit how our R10 has played before but gives us more physicality in there and again could have a couple of goals by now. Both probably need something to happen sooner rather than later - hopefully next taxi's in the rank after Azon got off the mark last weekend.

It's a fair cop If I were to simplify my original post - there are 3 or 4 players who are younger than I thought

I'm not one to be down on new players and like to give them a chance, but wasn't impressed by McAteer, and did pay attention to Leicester fans' views we'd overpaid. BUT, I like a lot about his performance in South Wales, as you say his out of posession work was really positive.. but his forward play seemed to have improved, one really good crosses, two (?) that needed strikers to gamble and one howler... he also carved out a chance Interested to see his development; albeit want Egeli to start every game!

Think it's easier to swap the two of them based on opposition, etc. If we need to break a team down then I'd be started Walle Egeli. If want to be more defensively solid then having MacAteer on the break is a good option. Also thought Nunez was picking out the runs that MacAteer was looking for. In other games he's been making the runs and no one has been picking him out. Hopefully both come good!
