If we get promoted this season, 23:08 - Nov 12 with 1569 viewsitfc1108

Do people think that we would pay the penalty, to cancel the obligations to buy Cajuste and/or Akpom?
I know Chelsea did with Jadon Sancho, and even though more high profile, was fairly humiliating for him.
I think we would proceed with Kipre, and I can see us maybe trying to sign Azon permanently in January.
But I understand it's probably unfair to judge either way, so early in the season, on all 4 loanee's.

If it is not possible then you probably just suck it up and either utilise them or move them on again either on loan or permanently

Much like Taylor. It's evident KM sees a lot to like in Cajuste (in fact all of them) otherwise they wouldn't be here.

It would be a good problem to have, let's leave it there.

Lots of ifs and buts in there. People are very quick to write players off. Taylor has already been mentioned above, Cajuste has had 1 1/3 seasons in English football. 1 in a struggling PL side, 1/3 in a newly built Championship side, thats hardly stable state to adjust and perform. Im sure he can make a valuable contribution this season no matter how the season ends.

Seriously are we now questioning a player of Cajustes quality a quarter way in to the season , after the majority of fans were clamoring for him to sign and stated he is too good for the championship!!!!!!!!

Wow

Doubt it, they might become fringe players if we find better. But they could both really push on over the next few months and become indispensable.

It's incredible Cajuste has gone from purring Silver Spirit to a written-off banger while Jack Taylor has morphed into a classic Capri from an old Ford Anglia.

It's all "all or nothing" these days.

Far too early for this talk, it wouldn't surprise me if 1 or both of those are players come the end of the season where we're very glad we can make perm.

If not, £10m - £15m on 2 players isn't that meaningful by premier league standards, we can get some nice loan fees or sell them on and recoup that I would think.

They could be squad players in a Town in the PL, but where do we find notably better players without mortgaging the club?
Yes, Sunderland seem to have recruited well so maybe it can be done.

No, we aren't Chelsea who will happily waste millions.

We don't want to become a club who are saying to players come and join us and if you help us win success, as per your contract, we will shaft you as soon as we achieve success.
Yes all clubs will sell players after promotion etc, but to agree a deal and then pull out after agreeing a deal, will go against us.

Don't forget Chelsea paid £5m to pull out of the Sancho deal.

True. But you can say your knee really doesn't allow you to get the best if you throughout a game. When youre able you're incredibly gifted on the pitch but you seem to go through 5 minute bursts of excellence to 10 minutes of recovery.

Think cajuste has a lot of fans at town. But the truth appears that fitness wise he may stay on the pitch for 60 minutes if he starts but we only see the best of him for 15 of those.

I like cajuste. Hes got bags of ability. But his lack of fitness is so evident which is why taylor playing has really shown the differences in fitness levels of the two.

a niche perspective

If we get promoted there could be another lot of player "churn", especially if Sunderland buck the trend of relegation. We didn't get the recruitment right last time.

I still think Akpom will come good and Cajuste will be invaluable to us this season with injury and suspension.

It seems many fans were expecting Cajuste to win games on his own in the Champ, whereas Taylor's physicality has allowed him to surprise those who wrote him off a year or two ago.

Indeed. Cajuste was never a Silver Spirit, purring or otherwise, but equally he ain't no banger. He'll need to earn his place in this *Championship* side on merit, and I'm not totally confident he currently deserves it.

The disparity between writing off the rest of our PL midfield but drooling over Cajuste never made any sense (especially as Morsy had a better PPG than Cajuste in our PL season).

It is clear from the form of SS and Akpom that some players perform to different levels depending on a number of factors, including club context. They may never come good for Town, or they may eventually have a Taylor-like renaissance. None of these players were bad players, or have become bad players, but some will succeed here, whilst others won't.

Clarke and Philogene are other really interesting examples! Clarke was heroic for Sunderland and then became lightweight and ineffectual for us, before he suddenly very much wasn't!

For me the problem is not so much people talking Cajuste down now but more the ridiculous levels of bigging him up before, decent yes, great no, and definitely a luxury player what with his levels of fitness etc.

Nicely put. As I said, it's all or nothing for most people.
