| We miss a left footed no.10 13:02 - Dec 3 with 309 views | Garv | We have no quick switch of play when we have any of our current 10s in there, especially when McAteer is on the wing instead of Walle Egeli, which I have no problem with generally. If you're going to have a right footed 10 you at least need a left footed winger. I wonder if the plan long term if we can get Burns fit and playing, will be to start using Walle Egeli inside more, but that's a big if. The Chaplin loan was the biggest gut punch of all the summer departures, possibly because it happened at the last minute. I know he's far from ripped it up at Pompey, but he's not being managed by McKenna and doesn't have the likes of Hirst, Burns, Davis and Taylor around him. The stupid thing is that he would be getting the game time for us now that he moved elsewhere to get. Instead we have four right backs, one of which doesn't get in the squad and one who spends 90% of the time getting splinters. | |

I don't really see what we have to lose by doing that now. The 10s we have tried are not working and it isn't as though we are ripping it up from the right hand side anyway. I'd like us to start Clarke on the Right, Egeli in the 10 and Philogene on the left Saturday. That then means the 70 minute subs are a bit thrown though and that seems to be very important in Mckenna's system.

Yes. And get Philogene and Clarke either side of him.

Chaplin presumably moved because he wasn't going to get game time, and Burns has been out injured for AGES! I get really frustrated with the constant getting up down the line near the corner and then "recycling" it back to our defenders or GK and then go again. When was "try and get a corner" not at least a variable tactic?

I'd like at least one of our wingers to play on the side of their strongest foot sometimes. Teams have sussed that they will always cut in.
