situation. A great example in a sea of questionable behaviour.

Seeing him score just now, and the crisis at Liverpool, and Isak getting his way but not scoring…..if feels it’s worked out wonderfully.

He got respect, he’ll leave Palace in Jan (I guess) a club legend in the right way, and he has somehow dodged that bullet that is Liverpool. Good lad.

He’s impressive in so many ways.

Also, I think he respects Glasner for what he's done for both him and the team so didn't want to leave in a bad way - if he gets a move to somewhere like Bayern, I can see him captaining England after Kane retires from internationals...

You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....

He was on loan over here at Swansea of course about 5 years ago now (which would have made him about 19/20). I don’t think I’ve seen a better CB in the Championship, never mind someone just starting out. He was a pleasure to watch and on another level, both in terms of defending and playing. I would have loved him with us, but we weren’t in a good place then unfortunately.

Alternatively if he had forced a move to Liverpool, he might well have been the difference between them winning matches rather than drawing or losing.

True, but that’s not going to bother him too much now. There’s no danger of him not going to the WC if he’s fit, and he’s revered where he is, so it’s a win-win for him. He’d have got a bigger contract at Liverpool of course, but he’s hardly on the breadline.

Yes a great example of how to behave which is few and far between in the footballing world.

I'm not sure he'll rush to Liverpool in January now. he may as well run his contract down, then he'll have the pick of anyone (European teams can arrange a contract in Jan anyway) and get a big(ger) sigining on fee.

Agree with the post, certain amount of karma going on. He seems a principled fellow. But I doubt he leaves in January, more likely to go in the Summer when there could be many admirers in the market. Palace into 4th spot, there should be no pressing desire to leave.

Or he might break a leg next week and never return as the same player as his career dwindles down the leagues with him never earning the big bucks a move to Liverpool would have made him.
Football can be a short career with many twists and turns can never blame a player for forcing a life changing move through
