Talking about LBs, Matt Penney is now at Aldershot Town. Never recovered from the dreadful game he had at Plymouth when Cook turned against him.

Each to their own and certainly not questioning his professionalism for a second, he had injuries throughout his career but I always found us to be a much worse side with him in it. Had some technical ability on the ball but really struggled to get around the pitch. I still have nightmares about that Charlton game under McGreal. Was night and day when Luongo came in for him, and Humphreys for a period. | | | |

There have been many 'new era' teams over the years. That Morecambe game in August 2021 was definitely one of them. Obviously it look McKenna coming in 4 months later, but I remember thinking we suddenly had a good squad of footballers compared the general dross we'd been watching for the majority of the 10 years prior.
Evans oozed class that day. I remember thinking I'd forgotten what a good midfielder looked like.
Rightly will be remembered for his part in that first promotion. |  |

I think there was a big drop off from him when he wasn't fully fit which unfortunately was quite often. He definitely had a really good spell for us at some point and enjoyed watching him but yeah Mass did overshadow that. |  | | |

100%. Genuinely think it’s one of the most bizarre fan opinions to say he was ever much good, let alone ‘important’.
Could play the occasional nice ball from deep but slowed our game down so much wanting to get on the ball all the time then taking 40 touches before doing anything else with it. As you say it’s not really a surprise we looked miles better once he was out of the team. |  |
