We are all guilty of it, me included. A lot of people ask for perspective and big picture. So after Stoke we were going be hot on the tails of the top 2, they’d both wobble squad depth and all that. Today we are awful again and be lucky to make the playoffs.
I think we have a big enough sample size this season now to zoom out.
We are going to need at least 2.2 PPG second half of the year. We are not doing that with this squad on the road. So much spent, tens of millions sitting on the bench in a bang average league and it’s completely fair to ask questions on recruitment. Relying on some buys from the league 1 promotion summer isn’t good with the cash we have thrown around. Both positions of CM and striker are a problem as well.
A lot of the big money buys don’t exactly fit the system which seems bizarre when you think just how astute the manager is. I think we will get top 6 because of how weak the league is and just the general talent but as unit we are miles off it again in games like today.
A goal scoring striker might give us a sniff if others faulter (which I think they will!) but to be relying on that in January potentially quite a few points off second would be really poor.
Of course win our next three and everything changes but this team has shown us we shouldn’t be too confident. The last three away performances very disappointing IMO, lacked tempo, leadership and gifted goals away. That’s not a recipe for success. [Post edited 13 Dec 17:49]

Far too many knee jerk reactions every game imi.
IMO I think we started a couple of players who looked a little tired and should have gone with a more defensive minded attacker on the right. But regardless, we were done by two moments of brilliance and t was always gong to be hard to come back from that.
These things happen and we are pretty much where we deserve to ve in the table. Take it on the chin and move on to the next game. I think we'll be in a good place come May. [Post edited 13 Dec 18:08]

*1.62. We're on course for 75 points, which normally sees you in the playoffs. We're likely on course for more than that because we've improved since the start of the season. What we aren't is a parachute club that mostly looks too good for the division it's in, which is my disappointment. I hoped we'd look more Premier League than Championship, more like Leeds really, but it hasn't happened for us. Hey ho we are where we are. | | | |

We still haven't won 3 in a row yet and this comment is getting downvotes.
We've also lost points in our last 5 games to every team currently above us.
This is yet another game where we were unable to break down a defensive unit that looked more like they were sitting back than attacking us after they scored, and they still scored 1 more than we did when they started sitting deeper.
We still cannot break down a low block. We're in December.
For the standards we were aiming for this season, that is completely unacceptable.
It IS a big ask, because our record in the playoffs hasn't been great since we beat Barnsley 4-2 back in 2000.
If we face a low block team in the playoffs, should we make it, which we 100% should, I can't see us succeeding at the moment. [Post edited 13 Dec 22:49]

I’ve not gone too far into the fits and digits, not sure why, but I’m not particularly worried- whole league looks inconsistent to me, other than Coventry (who we f***ing walloped) [Post edited 14 Dec 1:06]
