If it looks like top two are not reachable..they may just let him see can he get us up on what we have. And if we in championship Come nxt season.i Can see him gone .why spend another 20 million or more if the quality isn't incoming

Disagree. McKenna had all summer and a large transfer budget. Yes, it was disappointing not to get Hackney, but we should have had a better plan B than Cajuste on loan. McKenna should be getting more from this squad; I agree another striker in January is necessary so that should be funded.

| Just wonder will owners give money to mckenna in January? on 00:55 - Dec 15 by Iwasthere | I'm never disappointed when we win. My biggest concern is that if we fail to get promotion this seaso next season will be harder and that's the end of parachute payments. We have a highly paid squad on long contracts, the recipe for disaster. I do not believe McKenna is the the manager to take us forward. Believe me I am not alone. I will be at the Sheffield Wednesday game on Saturday and will be delighted to see us win. |
Leeds fans were saying the same when we pipped them. Now they're holding out in the PL. The lack of patience is staggering. We're in in the mix. The recruitment has, I think, been a little hit and miss, perhaps heightend by the fact we did lose key positions, replacing Delap, Omari, Luongo, Morsy and Broadhead was never going to be easy, all were good influential players, but we had no chance of keeping them, so they had to be replaced. How many teams chop and change their managers and make no discernable steps forward. McKenna is not only trying to progress this team on the field, he's dealing with training ground changes and a club that's investing heavily across the board in all areas. It's not a straight forward job. Plus, recruitment isn't wholly his responsibility. We're not failing. We're just not quite hitting expectations, I suspect the board are far more pragmatic than the fans. Our stats put us second, we've underperformed those and Coventry have massively exceeded theirs as have boro. It'll even out....always does. Numbers always move towards their statistical norm over a larger example set, not saying we'll catch coventry, but we'll be closer come end of season, of that i'm confident. On back of this, just looked at some odds, we're second favourites. We'll be there or thereabouts.

Nunez was the player we signed instead of Hackney

Clubs won't view their recruitment process as "giving money to the manager to spend" and they won't be thinking about it as "his recruitment". It's a club-driven process and everyone is going to be on the hook for it, Ashton, our recruitment/scouting team, as well as McKenna.

Yes, this is a good point and people, myself included, need to realise just how much the game has moved on in the last couple of decades without us at the elite end on the footballing world. Data driven recruitment teams, set piece coaches, specific loan managers and player acquisition bods, starters and finishers, 8 subs etc etc etc. It's a long long long way away from those Halcyon days of Mick having a punt on a proper bloke for a few grand and giving the players a rollicking to get back to winning ways. And I say that as someone with a soft spot for McCarthy and his time here.
