Assuming (and hoping!) that January business is already being conducted behind the scenes, I got to wondering:
Is there any reason why clubs don't/can't, from time to time, wrap up and announce January signings in advance? Something along the lines of "[Club] can confirm that [player] will be joining from [club] on January 1st".
I get that a lot of deals will be contingent on other deals being done, or the subject player still being surplus to requirements on January 1st, but there must be examples where a deal is all but guaranteed to be done, and can be announced in advance? |  |

Not sure it benefits anyone to announce anything early. Chelsea announced signing someone next summer and he's been getting a lot of stick from his club's fans. Can't remember who it is now. |  |

Because so much can happen in the meantime.
We could agree a loan deal for a prem player now but that club then faces an injury crisis and needs the player. Would make everyone look stupid if we announced it now and then they don’t join in January.
I know it won’t happen but I hope our fans will remain patient through January. The chances are with the players we’ll be targeting, it’s going to be towards the end of the month before we likely complete the deals. And that doesn’t mean we’ve missed out on our first choice targets. | | | |

hope I'm wrong but that seems to be the case every window. Lets hope we get 2 or 3 in the door early and push on with them hitting the ground running, not carrying injuries and fully fit, fingers crossed! | |
