I'd like to see what a run of 4/5 games does for him

People said about Hirst scoring easy goals that it's his positioning that creates that opportunity, so lets say the same for Azon, he's getting into those positions.

People said Hirst is poor on confidence hence the lack of composure, missing great chances etc.. So with Azon, if that's the same, how does he gain confidence and composure being in and out of the side every week?

a niche perspective

Not ideal, but I prefer him to Akpom.

No. He is still a project. Hoping it will work longer term but unfortunately for him I recon a new striker will come in after Xmas that will limit his time

Haven't got much option unless we get someone in in January. I've got a feeling Hirst will be back by then anyway.

Yes he is. He's not top notch Championship level yet, but he does make things happen. His movement off the ball is very good, he reads the offside line very well, his pace is decent and his touch is good too. He's been guilty of snatching at chances a little, but he's also very sharp and mentally quick at seeing chances and getting to them. And his interactions particularly with Nunez and Cajuste have looked really in tune too - he's an intelligent and aware forward.

He's intelligent in the way he challenges CBs too - he times his impact against bigger men in a way that doesn't cost a foul and causes them more trouble than the bigger Hirst does. It's noticeable how Ivan goes into an aerial with a CB sideways on, watching the CB and timing the way he bumps him very well. Hirst tends to back in not watching the CB.

As I say, he's snatched at things a little at times, which is a bit odd given his El Tiburon nickname and his finishing reel from previous clubs, but he looks like he's working really hard to get up to speed with the link up play that KMc wants, and maybe to finishing aspect has suffered a bit in consequence?

I still think we need a Delap type striker ideally in January, but I do like Ivan.

I like him as an impact sub option, don't think he offers enough from the start.

Repeating myself a bit, but I'd make a centre forward the priority in the January window.

It's not ideal but it is better than playing someone like Clarke out of position there, or having to rely on someone like Al Hamadi. Azon gets in good positions and puts the work in. He won't bully defences as much as Hirst does. Who is Azon's cover? Akpom? Will we promote from the U21s? Will we be able to get another striker in early in January - or at all? I hope Azon proves he is good enough but we will only know once he has been given the chance.
