Thats really what we need in this window isn't it

The knowledge on where run, what movements to make to create openings when we get to the edge of the box.

Weve seen the issues with the likes of sammy and akpom. They're no good going up against the sides we come across every week.

Tough window. But thats the sort of profile i think we will be looking at or hoping we are really.

Maybe but we are creating chances so the issue might not be so much creating chances as finishing them off. I think we will go for a striker as priority. Also a CM as we badly need someone alongside Matusiwa who can control the game. Taylor is a good back up but I think a CM and ST would give us a massive boost.

Truly impaired.

The low block surely isn’t too difficult to beat when you’ve got a shed load of it outside like we have …… oh wait

In all seriousness I’d really like to see a right sided speedstar join (could well be Wes hopefully ) and move Egeli inside

Pace and movement will break the low block so long as we have movement elsewhere creating space for a pacey winger

Obv a high level but watching foden earlier today when forest were well organised at the back. City were passing around like we do ourselves but foden was everywhere around the box and finding little pockets inside it. He should have scored one of his chances. But that movement and those of others were at times damaging to forest but they defended the shots well.

So it’s fine if we can find a player worth £100,000,000 plus , tricky.

We could start by pressing the opposition defenders, almost everyone tries to play out from the back now, we seem to only really press in our own half. In our Championship promotion season we appeared to work much harder in the press and force people into mistakes.

Yeah definitely noticed that. We used to always press with what i was calling the 3 man flying v.

Weve definitely changed our style under KM. Hes clearly trying something different than what he did before. We were one of if not the best at turnovers in the opposition half in that season

Don't think it's about individuals; you couldn't have more tricky players than Philogene, Clarke, Cajuste etc. for cutting through a low block than we have. It's a systemic improvement we have to make - whether that means stopping teams getting into an ultra low block by getting our shots off earlier (yes) or by coping with that by feeding back to the likes of Kipre and O'Shea and Furlong to be shooting when the ultra low block is in place (that too) and hoping for goals, deflections, loose balls, follow ups etc.

Whatever it is, we need to be doing it early in games before the moaning starts and because once we're in front everything is in our favour. We're too patient and rigid in our approach at the moment, trying to bring the squad up to standard in the technical way we want to be playing by the end of the season. What's good is that the pressure isn't a table pressure, what's bad is that it's a support pressure.

An interesting name popped up earlier as the type of player we need - a Jason Scotland.

May sound odd, but I could understand the logic - someone who can simply put a foot through the ball and take the simple selfish option without thinking, just a basic goal scorer. Ideally, more prolific than Jason was though!

I love Hirst, and he is a great option and should remain so, but we need a different option to him and Azon.
