| Players going down holding their heads 17:06 - Dec 28 with 1903 views | Bramidan | Watching Crystal Palace v Spurs, just seen two separate incidents, one from each team, a simple tackle, no where near their heads and both went down holding their heads. FFS why can’t refs see that a tackle below the knee cap does not warrant the player rolling about holding his head, accompanied of course by one leg beating a rhythm on the turf. | | | | |
| Players going down holding their heads on 20:45 - Dec 28 with 423 views | Basuco | There is a very easy answer, if a player goes down holding his head then he has to leave the pitch for 10 minutes for concussion assessment, that would stop the play acting. | | | |

anyone saying they have a head injury should have to take time off the pitch to recover

I agree, but the H&S mob would say that this could lead to players refusing to admit they had a head injury.

| Players going down holding their heads on 05:56 - Dec 29 with 332 views | michaeldownunder | Going slightly off point, I would also make players holding their head and looking upwards when missing a chance to score a goal have to take a ten minute break, George Hirst would prob be on the pitch for less than 15 seconds a game. Just saying for a mate. !!!!! | | | |
| Players going down holding their heads on 11:02 - Dec 29 with 261 views | bluefunk | Maybe impose a rule that if a game has to be stopped for a claimed head injury, then the player has to go off the field for a minimum 5 minutes - draconian maybe, but bet it would soon stop this nonsense | | | |

Azon’s surprise at having to go off the pitch for 30 seconds was as bad as his theatrics that his head was going to fall off against Millwall. Ian Westlake commented that he hoped that the physio team would tell him to cut this out of his game and get on with things. It’s embarrassing.

| Players going down holding their heads on 12:00 - Dec 29 with 225 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Possibly because the don't see the challenge and think there might have been a clash of heads they didn't see. The way to stop it is that every time a player has a clash of heads, there is an independent concussion assessment after which the independent assessor decides whether the player is fit to continue. As long as the player is conscious, they leave the field of play for the assessment to take place and the game continues. An immediate substitution can be made or the team is down to ten men until the assessment is completed and the player returns. Additionally, if it is clear there was no clash of heads on a replay, the ref should be informed and the player booked but the assessment is still carried out. It would stop it immediately apart from possibly the odd player who was about to be subbed anyway. | |

if a player really had a head injury , would think he would be more than happy to have a break or be substituted ! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Most times that there is a real head injury there has been a very clear and solid collision. It is in the context that there may have been an unseen collision that these players are going down to stop the game and take advantage. It is just one example of the gamesmanship that the authorities have no real desire to cut out of the game. They easily could if they wanted to.
