Our second goal tonight made me well up. That hasn't happened since the last promotion season. Everything was perfect.
Jack Taylor winning the ball on the edge of our box and then playing Jack Clarke in to drive up the pitch. He sent Grimes to a different postcode before a sublime pass to Nunez with the outside of his right foot. Nunez then does his best Pele impression playing in Carlos Alberto down the right for a first time finish into the far corner.
Did I say Carlos Alberto? I meant Wes Burns. The returning hero.
I can't stop watching it.

Taylor's interception in front of the 18 yard box was Matusiwa-esque, then Jack Clarke was brilliant with his driving run, a few tricky feints before dinking the ball to Núñez with the outside of his boot. Núñez could have been forgiven for trying a shot in the box, but no - he plays a beautifully weighted ball to Burns, who arrives majestically and perfectly late in the box and slots home a classy right-footed shot delicately onto the boot of the Coventry defender to guide it past the keeper.

The weight of the pass to Burns was absolutely perfect. Nunez’s skill in doing that is top drawer. And Wes finishing it? Moment of the season for me. I’m so pleased for him.
I watched him in the u21 game where he was the best player on the pitch by a mile and did wonder if he could still contribute. Well, we can safely say he can.

I think many of us have worried if he can get back to what he was after such a serious injury.
It's possible he won't be a starter, going forward, but if he can produce that kind of performance as a finisher, then he really has nothing to worry about. He will be really important to the squad for the next 5 months.

Attack wise, Burns and Egeli on the right hand side, horses for courses, stands us in good stead for the rest of the season
I'd also really like to see Chaplin brought back to rotate with Nunez in the 10
That will feel like and have a lot of the identity of the 'old Ipswich' mixed in with the best of the new blood (Philly, Clarke and so on)
Where that leaves the likes of Mcateer, Akpom and Szmodics I don't know but it's surely got to be about playing the right personnel to win games and looking past price tags with the high stakes of promotion

And there were many voices saying that there was no way back into the team for Wes. He is going to be so important 2nd half of the season. Wes is a big game player, and every game is going to be a big game.

Not sure that's entirely accurate.
I've seen a lot of posts talking about how serious an injury it is to recover from and that getting back to his form will be a big, big ask.
We've seen him cameo 20 mins? He's looked sharp and last nights finish was quality.
It does remain to be seen if he can perform from the start of a game still. However, promising signs and if he can then he's an asset for sure.
Bloody wonderful for him last night!
