Feels like we've had winters with barely a proper frost in recent times, and as a gardener and lover of nature, I think you need this kind of freeze to give things a proper reset.

Annual plants carrying on for 2 or 3 years isn't what is supposed to happen. It's good to trim up the numbers of garden pests too.

It's also pretty stunning to go for a long walk in the countryside when the weather is like this.

Anyone else love the cold, albeit only in short bursts ideally!

I love this time of year too in the southern hemisphere … late spring early summer and as I sit at the window keeping a lookout for our “Tesco” delivery the busy street is full of people in their new glorious summer outfits (or lack of) after hibernation …. A truly glorious sight.

The snow and sky over the last couple of days reminds of my first trip skiing to Austria 20 or so years ago. Bitterly cold but clear and snowy in the hills.

Something so serene about a proper winter landscape.

Everything looks amazing with a frost, but had very few of those so far this winter (clearly I don’t live in Portsmouth…)
