We were never going to get him on that basis, were we? He's done well at the Blunts & preferred to stay in the north west so we'd have had to have offered him a significantly better deal for him to choose Town. At his age, contract & location is far more important than the chance of playing aa few games in the Premier League next season. |  |

We already have Akpom who I believe would have to be signed for 7 million should we get promotion and to take on Bamford at 32 years of age who would have required a similar contract to that at Sheffield Utd would have been madness and he's no more prolific than Hirst. | | | |

Pretty sure we offered him not dissimilar and he was keen given the prospect of the Premier League next season, but didn't suit his family situation at present and for that reason he wanted to stay in the north. His wife is pregnant at the moment, I believe. |  | | |
