| Attacking options and player review - 11 into 4! 14:22 - Jan 23 with 1084 views | unstableblue | Players that fit each position by order of McKenna preference: Centre forward options: Hirst, Azon, Akpom, Szmodics Left attacking mid options: Philogene, Clarke, Szmodics, Mehmeti Number 10: Nunez, Mehmeti, Szmodics, Clarke, Akpom Right attacking mid options: Burns, Egeli, McAteer That’s 11 into 4. Here’s a view of current starting players in the pecking order: Preferred: Hirst Philogene Nunez Burns Second: Azon Clarke Mehmeti Egeli Third: Akpom Mehmeti Szmodics McAteer Do you agree?? Does feel that Akpom and Szmodics are becoming surplus, but I personally Szmodcis with a run could be our number 9. I think McKenna wants 8 fit and in form players in the match squad. We currently have only 8 fit. And the season starts to see injury increase. Maybe this is the master plan. And we’ll retain the 11. But can’t help feel a few may go out. And perhaps Egeli is seen as one for next season rather than this. Good problem to have. In McKenna we trust. [Post edited 23 Jan 14:25]

Szmodics if we could get a decent fee, might also be sacrificed if we can bring in another CF. Because he's not a 10.

The difference having a squad of players who can interchange while keeping the strength of the 11 on the pitch and stay fresh for the second half of the season is a huge advantage over rivals. We have already seen the impact that a couple of injuries can have on a team like Coventry through December. [Post edited 23 Jan 14:27]

| And something that is key to Mehmeti and the analysis - who can finish, clinical on 14:31 - Jan 23 with 963 views | unstableblue | Currently in that long list of attackers who’s really in clinical form from that 11?? That ain’t Akpom, Azon, Egeli, Nunez, McAteer is it? Clarke and Philogene definitely, Szmodics?! (Maybe?) Mehmeti - 8 goals! Yes And a £5m rated player, who can finish, perhaps he starts soon in the 10?! It definitely won’t be left, where he can play. [Post edited 23 Jan 17:53]

Agreed Those extra 3 are perhaps the injury safety valve

25, peaking right now, 8 goals, good assists…. But perhaps still Champ level, and not a huge upgrade on a number of other players. We shall see. Think he’s going to make a difference this campaign in that depth of strength.

I don’t think Akpom has met what was expected from him, which was goals and really effecting games. Hasn’t seem to quite suit the 10 position and at 9 hasn’t been fed with the delivery he likes. Szmodics may well be moving our our plans, and hence going to get a move, but given his last two displays, can’t help but feel he is getting back into form and can play a part. But I can’t see Nunez dropping into the central two, nor dropping out of the starting 11, so it’s all a bit unclear on this preferred starting 4 and the subsequent reinforcing 4.

Definitely not Think Nunez has been playing well I was talking who was in clinical form as in players look like they’re actually going to convert chances and score goals. We’ve been very reliant on Philogene and Clarke. Don’t get me wrong Nunez is playing an important role, but he ain’t got an eye for goal. I was suggesting Szmodics could add to our tally. The main point is that I think Mehmeti has been brought in to increase our threat and score. Get the second and third goal we need to our games out of sight early. Wibble wibble.

When fit, Nunez is one of the first names on my team sheet.
