| With Burnley looking almost certain to come back down on 07:35 - Jan 24 with 1668 views | Churchman | Broja’s fee was about £20m. He’s on around £45k a week for a five year deal. He’s certainly upped his goalscoring this season. He’s banged in one (1) goal in his sixteen appearances. Whoopee. He’s done very nicely on the salary front and Chelsea must still be rolling in the aisles to get that sort of fee for him. Burnley will of course want to unload him, though of course he might spring into action on his good leg and initiate a survival charge. It’s a not in a million years from me. Same with Tuanzebe. He at least is a proper Premier League player when fit, but that’s the problem. His fitness is a huge risk and I notice he’s played only six times for Burnley this season. As it goes, and I’ve no doubt controversially, I think Furlong is a pretty similar standard but with the bonus of being less injury prone, to date. So Tuanzebe is another no. | | | |

Generally agree. My only concern with Furlong in the Prem is being a little card-happy with VAR looking over the shoulder.

A fully fit Broja would definitely be a good fit for the way we play; he's started to put a little run of games together, and if he can avoid injury until the end of the season, wouldn't be surprised if we went back in for him if Burnley drop. As a club, we've improved massively at managing players fitness and return from injury since the Evans dark days, but considering he's had achilles and ankle injuries too since the ACL, might be the longest medical in the history of the club though!

If somebody is injury prone, the risk is always there. Why knowingly take it? He was a prospect. He isn’t now. 19 goals in 6 years. In fact that’s in his whole career. Fulham ran a mile, Everton ran a mile. Chelsea tried to mug us off and failed, but essentially robbed a desperate Burnley instead. The evidence is all there. Surely the club swerves a treatment table shiner like that. But nothing would surprise me. [Post edited 24 Jan 9:59]

Tuanzebe is a proper PL player … which is why I’m surprised you think Furlong is as good. I think Tuanzebe is taller, stronger, quicker, better going forward and at least as solid defensively (his pace gets him out of most of the problems he sometimes finds himself in). Furlong has played a full season in the PL for WBA, six seasons ago. He could step up again. But Tuanzebe has stepped up. And looked comfortable there. Obviously his injury record would be a huge consideration.

There was actually not a lot from Tuanzebe going forwards and he did get caught out the wrong side on more than one occasion. Pace wise, they’re about the same as they are strength wise. Height? Tuanzebe is 1.85m, 1.83m. Not a lot in it, both six footers. I said comparable standard not necessarily as good, but I don’t think he’s far off. I’m fully aware that Axel has played to a higher standard and if he hadn’t had the problems he’s had, he’d be playing for a top side. Proper Premier League player. However, the key point is that he is injury prone. Furlong is not and has been improving as the season has gone on. Knows a bit about the dark arts too, which is no bad thing. Edit: Axel has played in nine of second bottom Burnley’s 22 games so he’s either not that comfortable or has had injury niggles. [Post edited 24 Jan 14:31]

Im not surprised if true. He was one player who I thought kind of 'owed us' for the patience we showed getting him fit etc.
