| Barbrook to Col U on 17:00 - Jan 28 with 448 views | britbiker | Was at col utd V grimsby last night. Decent game. Ball moved forward a lot quicker than in our matches. Colchester only tried the passing around at the back once which nearly ended in a Grimsby goal. The wingers tried to get past their man every time they got the ball, however the final crosses were awful. Kane Vincent young looked good. Was hoping to see Kevin lisbies son but he got injured the week before so only came on as a sub Look tricky and quick in his cameo. Apparently Ipswich have helped pay for the pitch drainage. Not heard about that before if it's true. Would make sense as we use their pitch for junior games. | | | |

Yes, Town paid for the drainage work last summer. It was certainly put to the test in the last few days! Colchester have certainly benefited hugely from this cash injection, and the whole feel of the ground is so much better now that that the pitch is not a disgrace. It was as much about the women needing the pitch as the U21s. Colchester have lots of injuries, not least in midfield, so Barbrook might get games quite soon. Teddy Bishop was sprinting after the game, so you'd think he's back soon, but there wasn't a great deal of midfield strength on the bench yesterday. Lucky in the end for Barbrook that Lincoln didn't give him even five minutes on the pitch, as he wouldn't have been able to play in the League for anyone else. Colchester definitely seem to be a happy team at the moment. If Mbick stays, Barbrook will find himself playing alongside one of the best 19-year-olds in England for a few months. TB is back this week, so him and Barbrook will help to add much needed bodies to the group... they looked knackered on Tuesday, which is a shame as if one of their chances had gone in before Grimsby scored, they'd potentially be in the play off places in a few days time | | | |
